Probably not a good investment going forward unless you’re going to put in charging stations

Tony that owns the best stops in Livingston parish has something like eight cars. Including a Porsche, Lambo , Tahoe and a big arse truck.
Fast stops are bankrolled by someone in New York I believe.
It all depends on location. Some depend on walk in crowds and some on commuters. If there is a closed down convenience store for sell don't buy it. They have foreigners that go around and offer to buy all the mom and pop stores. They will stay away from closed stores cause they are closed for a reason.
Now thers a new set of foreigners in town that are building new stores. They come from Jackson Miss. They have one opened on North Airline and building 3 or 4 more.
Not sure who is building the one on Drusilla and old Hammond. Whoever is building it has a lot of money cause that is a 2 million dollar store

The people I know who own gas stations make serious bank. I can’t speak to people who recently bought, but my friends in south Florida who have owned for three generations have offspring they don’t need to work.

Be sure to get some Kevlar with the keys to the gas station.

Be ready to work 70+hrs/wk unless you have family to help run it. All it takes is $35 in theft a day to be out $1K/mo.
Selling hot food is good money also.
There's countless closed down gas stations in BR.

My best friend in high school dad owned three gas stations. They were pretty well off. He and I would take our cars every Friday after school and pull up in the back and completely fill our trunks with 12 packs and cases of beer that we would then sell to our classmates
Sometimes the person working would see us and my friend would just wave at them. They never told on us for taking the beer. Years later when we were in college his dad told us he knew what we were doing and didn’t say anything in case something bad happened he could claim he didn’t know anything.

Yes! Well he did own a couple. Retired and doing fine. A house on Toledo bend for summer fishing and a nice deer camp in Mississippi for hunting season. They live between both of them

Played baseball with a kid whose dad owned gas stations in Memphis. Also had a wrecker service that came in handy a couple of times. Kid was really preppy, went to some “private academy”, and was the 1st to drive a new car on the team.
Appearance wise they were doing well. Kenneth sucked as a starting pitcher though.

I know a guy that owned about 50 Philips 66 stations. He did extremely well.

Gas stations are money printing machines

Nachos and Cheese are $0.35 per pump and you sell it for $3.00. You triple the price.
Both of post are off, those are cost from 30 years ago.

I did but they were forced out due to a road widening project They were a full serve garage as well. Did OK selling the property though. Those corner gas stations are cash printing machines.

I don’t know anyone who owns a gas station, but I do know someone who has gas. And guess what? You’re talking to him.

You’d work 10 hours per day to save $35? I’d rather pay someone $3.50 per hour and not work at all.
The few people I know who own gas stations don’t actually work at them.

Yes. You can do well, but the hardest part is competition. Whenever there's another a new one built, you are always going to lose a portion of your customers. You also have to deal with high employee turnover, theft by employees, fluctuating gas prices and some are open 24 hours.

I work for an oil major and we lease our stations to commission marketers. I think all it takes is 100k and ability to afford the rent on the store and you are in.
There are lots of variables to the profitability and while a lot depends on the business attached to the site, whether it is food/convenience or an auto shop they can make a lot of money. Or you can hit the jackpot with one that pumps a lot of fuel and make decent money off of that. Most of the commission marketers in our direct market have a portfolio of 2-4 stores to get a combination of fuel volume and profits off of the attached business.
I would assume you can lease a station from a jobber in much the same way.
