Here’s a wild idea…2 dishwashers…one in the island and one in the scullery….if the one in the island is pissing you off only use it when no one is around

I never been rich enough to have a scullery LOL….id probably go there or somewheres else that’s close enough to the sink without being next to the sink

If you have any way to not put the dishwasher in the island that could make it better. They make a dishwasher, I forget the brand but it can direct connect to a drain line with no air gap. When I remodeled my wife’s cousins kitchen his dishwasher wasn’t adjacent and he just so happened to have that exact dishwasher, it has a built in check valve and you pop a hole in a membrane in the side and it vents it….it was a Miele

I’ll send my dog over, he’ll make sure you trip over him and the open dishwasher at the same time and you’ll be like damn sink shouldn’t be in the island LOL

The layout with the sink/dw backing up to the cooktop creates a traffic jam…I’d move the sink, our house is laid out like that.

I have a steam feature and never used it. We bought a new house when we moved back and the one feature we hate is the sink in the island. If you have room don’t put the sink in the island. Are you GCing yourself or do you have a GC?

Where are you in Baton Rouge. I have an electrical license and I can do these but I do this as side work. I actually had to add junction boxes to all of mine recently because the POS builder and his electrician drywall screwed the fixtures to the soffit.

24 F150 XLT 4x4 3.5 ecoboost here…24k miles no problems but I did buy the extended warranty to 8 years 125k miles…awesome truck. Lots of features, can even subscribe to Blue Cruise. In a GM you have to buy a loaded Denali to get super cruise.

re: Shower hardware replacement
Posted by dillpickleLSU on 3/24/26 at 5:13 am to TDTOM
You will have to replace the whole thing. I just ran into this doing some work at a neighbors house. There were no markings so I pulled the valve and found markings to tell it was Glacier Bay. Glacier Bay no longer made the valve/diverter set up she had so she bought a whole new Delta set up. I opened the wall and pulled it. Upon doing this I discovered the plumber sweated fittings on because if the threaded adapters were installed the valve did not fit in the wall so I had to notch the studs to make it fit. Some of those valve bodies say not to sweat to them even if the internals are removed so I suspect that’s why her Glacier Bay didn’t seem to work. Make sure your plumber follows the instructions.

Pneumatic with compressor is cheapest route. I bought the cheapest one from Home Depot years ago, not sure the brand and it’s still going strong. About to use jt on my fence build.
re: Need Flooring Recommendations (LVP)
Posted by dillpickleLSU on 2/21/26 at 8:53 pm to DiamondDog
I did a basement for someone not too long ago. They had a bar with tile around it. Getting the tile out is a bitch and that part will cost you a few thousand. There’s a hydraulic machine that pops it off then you need to bring in a floor grinder and control the dust.
The LVP install should be 3-5 bucks a square foot. Get the thickest you can and try out the interlocks on them. The stainmaster from Lowe’s would not lock consistently, it was almost like the tiles were banana shaped. You should have the toilets pulled and flanges cut out and reset on top of the floor.
What are you taking out where there is no tile?
Say 3k to remove the tile 2k to remove and reinstall toilet flanges, 10k for the floor install, 2k for the quarter round to total 18k, but I’m missing demo of the rest of your existing floor, plus materials. 26k might not be far off….
