Do you get sad when you see overweight young children? I'm talking around age 5.

I don't see how a parent could do that to their child.

Kids can easily grow out of that. I don't give it a second thought.

Yes, the parents terrible decisions are thrusted on the kid. It’s awful.

I’m usually impressed. My kids eat one bite of a chicken nugget and 2 green beans almost at gunpoint and then they’re full. How do they get their kids to eat so much?

It starts with being a fat kid. Then they get bullied. Then they become recluses. They have trouble in high school. They don’t go to college or get a job. Their only relief is playing RPGs, where they can be someone who isn’t fat or weird. They can just be themselves

My son eats fine for his age but only drinks water and may take 2 sips the entire time he eats. I have no idea how he gets by drinking so little when he eats.

Not kids so much as whole families who are just slovenly fat fricks. A shame.

No one wants to be the “you can’t have sugar” parent but given how impressionable kids are and how long lasting habits can form that early, it’s the responsible thing to do to teach them about eating properly and being active

I don’t think being a nazi about food is the answer, but simply teaching them about portion size and the difference between hunger and boredom is something I hope I can do one day. A lot of it is just laziness because being a parent is hard as frick obviously. Easier to give them McDonald’s and stick them in front of a screen to pacify them for a few hours

I don't get sad, I get disgusted at their parents allowing it.

ETA: There was a fat kid in my son's middle school and I overheard his mom telling my wife he was going to play football and "use his size to his advantage." I knew he couldn't cut it and was gonna get his fat little butt run over. He actually did play for 2 years and got in a little better shape, but quit football freshman year to be a band nerd.

Your kids prob gonna get bullied and picked on if that’s the case.

Good luck.

Don't drink water kid, here's some root beer.

I can't stand seeing those little hands swollen from obesity like they were just stung by 20 wasps. Just sad and the parents should be ashamed.

My sister and I get into this argument all the time. If your kid is seriously fat at age 5, outside of certain medical conditions of course, then it is child abuse.

Definitely angers me. The kid isn’t going out and buying groceries/meals. It really annoys me when I see nonfat parents with obese kids. That just shows how fricking lazy they are at being parents. “Whatever eat the suckers and drink the coke I’m not making you eat correctly bc it’s too hard for meeeeeee.” Type of attitude.

Unfortunately Darwinian principles extend to offspring as well. Survival of the "fittest" and all

I do get sad for obese children. They are being put behind the eight ball unfairly by irresponsible parents.
