Do you feel weird driving away after a business dinner with your bosses after drinking?

I work from home but do travel to our main office 3-4 times a year. When my team is in town we usually all meet for dinner including my boss, his boss and occasionally his boss.
Well we all have beer/wine/liquor while out. I usually have a couple old fashions and a beer with dinner, maybe one more while we all end dinner and say our goodbyes. Then everyone gets into their company paid rental car and go to our hotels.
Always feels weird knowing the big bosses are watching you drive away after 4 drinks. Hey they’ve had the same or more though.

No. I feel a lot weirder after plowing into those brick mailboxes.

If it's a big bill my boss will tell me to pick up the check and he wasn't there when submitting the expense report.

frick the bosses. Why would you or anyone in your group including the bosses even do this on 2026?
And then post about “feeling weird “
You are feeling weird. You’re fricking drunk. And driving. You all should be fired.

We usually leave the office about 5:30 and go straight to dinner

My boss had me put our liquor bill on my P-card once and he took care of the food part. He said don’t worry about it because I approve your expense report. He just didn’t want his boss who approves his expense report to see it.

As long as you aren’t visibly impaired, no. But I’m self employed now anyways
3-4 drinks with eating a full meal shouldn’t render you inebriated unless you’re a lightweight

If those stories are meant to show what a great workplace it is, they have the opposite effect. One is about avoiding internal oversight. The other is about treating driving after drinking as normal. That’s not leadership. That’s a culture that rewards poor judgment.
I’m sure your risk managers would love to hear your story.

Higher than I should be to tell the truth

4 drinks at a restaurant isn’t getting you drunk especially since they measure out the appropriate amount of alcohol that equals 1 drink rather than making it strong. But I’m from the delta, where drinking and driving is a cultural norm. We make a drink for the drive to wherever we are going
