I never had one. I just sought opportunities.

wish I would have picked one where I didn’t have to talk to people so much

Yep. I’m a lawyer. It’s usually not the work that makes me regret it, it’s putting up with the BS from other people that makes me regret it. I like helping people, but some people are just awful to deal with.
Amen. I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel these days. Went public sector, so the pay is dog shite compared to you guys, but the retirement is great. I’ll be able to throw in the towel before I’m 55 and while not rich, It’ll take care of the basic needs like fishing and golf.

I don’t regret my career choice because I’m good at my chosen path; however, knowing what I know now, I probably would have gone a different direction.

I just wish I would have been serious about school.
Didn't know what I wanted to do when I went in. Dicked around and didn't leave myself with many choices.
Going back, maybe I would have gone to community college for a year or two until I figured it out.

Sure. I wish I would have learned how to be a good student sooner.
I think I could have been a good doctor, but I grew up thinking I was a dumbass. Turned out I was only an occasional dumbass and a late bloomer.
I still Forrest Gumped my way to the top of my profession and was able to retire at age 55 debt free with no need to ever work again.
But I still think I would have been a great doctor.

I have zero work-life balance.
This is the worst thing about my job. I'm always a phone call away from getting pulled into something for hours, if not all night long, even when I'm not on call. There is no such thing as knocking off at 4-5pm or whatever and being 100% done until the next day.

I do regret it. The money is excellent, so I cant complain to much, but Medical sales just isn't fun anymore. Every expense is tracked with a fine tooth comb. I cant do anything but an occasional modest lunch. The paperwork is horrendous and the Physicians, Staff, and Patients have gotten harder to work with over the years.
The only benefit I get nowadays other then money, is the knowledge that I am helping people with my products.
If I where to do it again and be in Sales I would pick a less regulated industry then Healthcare so I had more freedom to do things with my clients.
But really what I would like to do if I was a younger man is run heavy equipment. I like being outside and could have seen myself disappearing to the Yukon gold fields to run excavators, bulldozers, rock trucks, etc. Who knows maybe I could have ended up on my favorite show Gold Rush.

No. It might be kind of sad but I’ve accepted that I will only like my job; not love it. If I did what I love, I’d be poor. Money does not bring happiness but lack of it sure as frick brings sadness.

Do you ever regret your career choice?
It's not the "Find a career that you love and you'll never work a day in your life" Pollyannaish bs, but I've never thought about getting out of my job.
I am exactly qualified to be a perfect fit for what I do.
Unlike this guy, I truly have people skills.
My only move will be to eventually retire.

It's an interesting question for me. I started out in healthcare management and did that for close to 20 years.
For the last 3 years I've been a business management consultant. I travel 100% of the time all around the country. I really enjoy helping my clients but the travel is a real grind.
I'm sometimes jealous of my brother who is an engineer. Solid money and he gets to go home every night. I definitely could have gone that route and wonder why I didn't.
Having said that the money for my current job is fantastic and I know it will continue to grow as I keep doing this job and get more experience. I feel like I'm now on a path to retire much quicker because of it.....

Yes. All the time when I was doing it.
But now that I'm retired, I'm thankful as hell I sucked it up.
