10 years job experience and now a masters and barely staying afloat in my job field.

I mostly love the job, love the schedule, but not being able to live comfortably bc my salary can't keep up has me questioning my career choice every single day.

48 here and the same.

Someone in 1995 told me to 'go into computers. that's where the future's at'.

I changed my major to ISDS the next semester and here we are 29 yrs later doing data/systems analyst/dba work.
Great job but I don't like computers at all.

My dream job would be a principal singer/dancer/performer at Disney, on Broadway, or in Vegas.

But I can't sing nor dance.

I regret my career and educational choices almost everyday. I am able to work remotely and am able to make a semi-decent living but only because I have to work like a dog. I have zero work-life balance. I feel like it is slowly driving me insane, but I will endure so I can support my family.

If I could do it all over again, I probably would’ve gone to the military right out of high school at the very least just to be toughened up and learn a little firearms and hand to hand combat training. I would’ve gone to trade school after.

I am not complaining because I have it better than a lot of people, but I still have regrets about my past decisions.

I wish I wouldve taken Meteorology at Miss State.

I'm a cloud infrastructure engineer and I'm completely burned out working in IT. I make more money than almost all meteorologists, but it sucks sitting at a desk everyday working on cloud insfrastructure from home.

Hard to say. I’m pretty content, make good money with manageable demands usually. But I’m definitely not going to leave my mark, do anything great or obituary worthy. So…I guess I don’t?

I often day dream about being the front man of a cool band. The only problem is I can't sing and my guitar skills are lacking to say the least

Regrets are for weak men.

If you don’t like where you are, get off your arse and change it. You might now get all the way there, but you’ll no longer be where you’re unhappy.

Sometimes I think I should have just gotten a degree in General Studies.

those dumpster fire days, multiple codes, shitshows, and battling it out in the trenches with your work besties- makes for some of the best friendships of your / my life. Bonds that are just indescribable to normal ppl.

bc let's face it- nurses are not normal people. or at least not ER/ICU/HEMS nurses

I couldn't imagine doing anything else. I still love nursing as much, if not more now than when I started so long ago.

Got a job out of college that I enjoyed at first but as time went on I started resenting it. One of the biggest turn offs were the type of people the industry attracted.

Left that job and started a completely new career path and haven’t had a regret since.

100% this. I was in sales for 5 years and these people made it a very easy choice to go back to school for another degree and I fricking hated school.

Absolutely the same.

ETA: it's not that I hate my job, it's just not something that I really care about. Definitely not "passionate" about it, but what percentage of people are really passionate about their work? I tell myself it's very small

I probably took the correct career path, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not burned out sometimes. Everything gets old eventually and I've been doing this shite for 25 years

Almost every day. But I make 20 years with the company in May, and my pay/benefits are too good to leave now, so I'm stuck.

I'm very happy with my choice of career as it's been fruitful, don't have to work 60 hours a week like some of ya'll, no travel, i've learned to deal with the stress as I'm able to turn it off when I'm not on the clock. Even if something bad happens, as I got older I am able to quickly put it in perspective. I'm lucky I guess.

Now, if I could have done it all over again, I would have been an industrial engineer along with computer science. I have a friend that as an IE can interface all kinds of physical tools, machines, lasers, etc. He build his own automated grow room 20 years ago.

I'm looking forward to having time in retirement to play with Rasberry Pi, Arduino, STM32, etc. May even build a high altitude balloon:
