So you have this career you worked hard to attain, busted your arse in school and at work to get where you want to be. Do you ever wake up and think, you know, I don’t really want to do this anymore, I wish I had taken another path to a different career that would have been more fulfilling.

Do you ever have days like that? Or are you happy with the career you chose?

I'm in my 30's with a decent job and I still have no idea what I want to be when I "grow up"

I don't regret my career choice but I regret that being successful in basically any career in America requires 60 hours a week now.

fricking this

I'm pretty set financially almost to my 40's, and I work about 50 give or take. I see some of the younger guys coming through, and for them to advance they really have to put in 60 plus hour weeks and always keep an eye on emails.....

I can count at least five close friends who made a big career move - however it was between ages 25-35. Big meaning back to school to get a different degree (JD, MD, etc).

I can see that being near impossible after 40's, to change into a career needing college/degrees.

Yep. I’m a lawyer. It’s usually not the work that makes me regret it, it’s putting up with the BS from other people that makes me regret it. I like helping people, but some people are just awful to deal with.

I wish I had become a meteorologist (not the TV kind) so I could study weather everyday and not have to answer phone calls from clients.

Don't regret it at all, but when I was younger there was another path that I did not follow. It was more physical and strenuous and following it would have taken its toll on my health in later years.

I've been a nurse for 25 years and while some days have definitely been harder than others, I have never regretted my career choice.

I love the different fields of nursing I have been fortunate to have worked in.

There are plenty of people working 40 hours per week that are quite successful. Medical field, tech, etc. Most remote jobs aren’t requiring >50 hours a week, much less 60.

I haven't been a nurse as long as you, but I agree. Some days I'm ready to run out of the building, but I love what I do.
