Do you care how good you are at your job?

Some people live to work, some work to live. There’s a huge portion of the work sector that has a nice yearly salary that isn’t incentive-based. You do well, or you do just enough, pay is the same. In that regard, why care?
So what do we have in here?

I'm posting on the OT when I should be writing a report.

I work to get paid, but I also try to do my best while I’m here. If I didn’t do good then I couldn’t work and make a paycheck.

“Peter Gibbons: The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care.
Bob Porter: Don't... don't care?
Peter Gibbons: It's a problem of motivation, all right? Now if I work my arse off and Initech ships a few extra units, I don't see another dime; so where's the motivation? And here's something else, Bob: I have eight different bosses right now.
Bob Slydell: I beg your pardon?
Peter Gibbons: Eight bosses.
Bob Slydell: Eight?
Peter Gibbons: Eight, Bob. So that means that when I make a mistake, I have eight different people coming by to tell me about it. That's my only real motivation is not to be hassled; that, and the fear of losing my job. But you know, Bob, that will only make someone work just hard enough not to get fired. ”

Well my compensation is mostly commission based so I definitely care how well I do at work. Not as much as my old lady cares though.

I have to be here for 8 hours, so I might as well do the best I can so that I can earn the most I can during said time frame.

Like most of the OT I care a lot more about what others are doing than what I'm doing.

I'm good at my job and make a solid salary but I choose to be more passionate about my hobbies, family, and other interests.

This is a fine line that I like to walk down, sometimes tipping a toe in either direction through various times of the year.

If someone lives to work, they are probably passionate about their job. Generally, when you are passionate about something, it means you care how good you are.

This is me.
Yes I care about the quality of work I do and I always will......pride & shite.

I care because I enjoy what I do. Hell I'm usually testing stuff out at home or on the weekends or researching just because I enjoy doing it.

Sounds like you make meth.

No, that's my other hobby when I'm not tinkering around with my pen test lab. Meth is great for those 36 hour binges when you're trying to pop a box.

Being efficient is an art. An art that pays well.
