Do you buy the one month air filter or the 3 month air filter?

Does the 3 month air filter really work and worth the extra money?

I just buy an air filter and replace it every three months.

I’ve never heard of a “one-month” filter. I think you’ve been had.

I buy the 12 month filter. It's labelled one month but that's just marketing.

I recently bought one by K&N that is reusable. You just hose it off when it’s dirty. Haven’t got to that point yet, but seems to be working good

3 months and I have air purifiers throughout the house. We have pets so it keeps the dander and smell out.

The guy in my neighborhood that lost his house to an HVAC fire would recommend it.

Primary variable is surface area. A flat cheapie 2x2 has 4 sq feet of surface . A pelted one will have 16 sq feet.

You can get more time out of your air filter if you run the air faster.

The faster the air flow the longer the filter will last.

Change it when it gets dirty. Standard “fiber mesh” type is good do maybe a month. Pleated MERV 8 is good for 3.

But depends on dust and pets dander/hair.

A dirty filter will constrict air flow and make you unit run harder (higher pressure drop). Commercially I see filter DPs installer to let you know when the pressure drop (dirty filter) needs to be changed.

I buy the cheapest one and change it every 12-16 months. All that dust collected is just more filter material.

Merv 10 (or higher if available), 3 month filters that I change at 2 months.

Put a calendar alert on phone so I don’t forget. As a backup, marksalot the install date on the edge of the filter.
