re: Do you believe that Hitler died in his bunker?

He was among friends...lots of them
People at that level don't have "friends", they have interests which they are going to protect before any sort of friendship. Hitler would have been betrayed in a heartbeat if it suited anyone protecting him. And given how little his word was shown to be worth, why would he trust the promises of anyone else? People tend to see others as reflections of themselves.
quote:
Sell him out to whom? If you ever thought that Hitler would have been brought to any kind of justice then you don't understand the world in which you live. (eg "Operation Paperclip")
You can believe that the Americans and Brits would protect him if you wish, but the Israelis and Russians certainly weren't going to let him go if they had any inkling that he was alive. As for Paperclip, Hitler wasn't needed for any of that. There were scientists and engineers and techs there for the taking. We got our share, as did the Brits and Russians. He himself didn't have anything of value that would be worth the mountain of toxic baggage that would have come with him.
And again, what was he going to do there? If you want to sell the notion that he escaped, that question needs to be answered. Please stop dodging the question and answer it.

I have my doubts that he died in a bunker. For starters I don’t think his ego would have allowed him to kill himself in such an unceremonious manner. I guess the argument could be made that he did it to prevent falling into the hands of the Russian army but if he feared being captured attempting to escape first seems more logical. I simply refuse to believe that a regime that had a plan for exterminating millions didn’t have a plan to escape Germany.

He escaped to Argentina and knocked up a woman and she had a son. The son became a successful doctor and works for US government. His name is Anthony Fauci.

Hitler can't exactly disguise himself, and there was no direction he could go without running into either the WAllies or the Soviets.

Was watching some food travel show a couple of weeks back that was filmed in Argentina. INSANE the amount of German heritage and culture down there. There are literally mock Alpine villages down there
I went to Paraguay a while back and was surprised by the German speaking white folks. Figured it out later.

His declining health versus a bunch of complex tunnels and means to escape to Argentina or several other secret Nazi establishments. I think he escaped, at least temporarily.

Catch fish and stink... mostly the latter.

I think Hitler was too feeble to make a cross-Atlantic trek to South America
Well, we know he would not have survived any trip by ship- he had a terrible sea sickness issue...
He could have escaped to the Middle East via plane with eventual plan to get to South America, but I agree, the time in the air and logistics would be too much for him to survive...

Hitler, from multiple accounts, was far from being a rational human being by that time, delusional was a word used commonly to describe him. Physically, he was a wreck & ambulatory limited. No way was he capable of many / any of the life - changing plans he would have had to have been able to make to make his escape.Who would have helped him ? All his inner circle were long gone or caught by the Allies. His reason for killing himself was verified by several different people in the bunker: after seeing film of Mussolini & his mistress' death, he was adamant that that would not happen to him. Hitler & Eva never left the bunker & died as described.

German emigration to South America began in the 19th century and continued well into the 20th. It didn't start in 1945.

The concept of escaping a disgraced life of ignominy to one of sequestered safety is self-evident
"Sequestered safety", living in what would have amounted to a gilded cage under someone else's thumb? He and whoever accompanied him would have been shut away in a remote enclave far from the nearest human settlement, with their every move and word closely monitored. Living under a microscope, communication with and travel to the outside world tightly restricted. There almost certainly would be a contingency plan put in place by the sheltering regime to swiftly and completely eradicate the lot of them and remove any trace of their existence should it prove necessary. And he would have known all of that well beforehand. Do you really think that he valued his continued breathing in such an environment when everything to which he'd devoted his existence had been destroyed? Sometimes people find themselves in situations in which they don't want to continue to live. For Hitler death would have been his best and surest escape. In the end it was thing only thing still in his control.

He moved to Argentina for the beef and barbecue. Much better food than that crap they serve in Germany.

Yes. He was obsessed with shaping Germany into his own image and being in power. When he realized it was over and they were definitively going to lose the war he couldn’t live with himself.

I agree, he was a wreck physically and mentally by his last days. Dude was severely hooked on all kinds of drugs and the thought of him functioning without his doctor by his side at all times is unlikely. Plus, his entire belief system would have been destroyed if he accepted reality and I don’t see him making it much longer having to live with that and the Parkinson’s. I think he started to see his ultimate plans unraveling once Russia started pushing back and he started his descent from then on. In truth, the worse his situation became the more drugs he was shot up with

He not only survived WWII, he got a sex change operation and ran for President of the United States....

Is it possible he got out of Berlin? Sure. If he had hoards of really, really pissed off Soviets hell-bent on getting me are just a few hundred yards away though, I wouldn’t blame him for blowing his brains out.
