I try to remain a skeptic about this subject, but I've had my own experience.

In the mid 80s I was staying with my Grandparents over the summer. I befriended the neighbor's grandson, and we hung out all summer. His Dad was into hunting coons and as a kid that grew up in the burbs I was curious about going coon hunting. My friend told me it would be boring, but said he'd ask his dad if we could go. Later that night we drive about a mile up the road and turn down a long gravel road. On this road was nothing but an old run-down shotgun house beside a large oak tree that was barely standing.

We turn off into a field to begin the hunt and just as my friend said, I quickly got bored. We decided to walk home. we weren't but a couple miles from my grandparent's house.

As we walk with a bright moon overhead, we pass the old house and I think I see a light in a window. The old house had a window on either side of the door. the little porch, door and windows were mostly still intact, just very overgrown and the roof was falling in. I bring the light to the attention of my friend and as I look up to see if the moon is causing a reflection I hear him just bolt. I look back and the light has moved from the left window into the right window, so I also haul arse out of there. We get up the road and catch our breath and laugh, thinking it was just in our heads, but both agree we saw the light in both windows.

We get to my grandparent's house and explain what we saw and my grandfather says it was likely the ghost of the young bride. He goes on to explain that back in the early 1900s an old miser lived there and owned the surrounding land. A man who had fallen on hard times asked if he could farm the land and pay the man after the crops came up, but the old miser said no. The miser knew the man had a daughter of marriage age and wanted her as payment for the use of the land. The girl marries this old miser and he has a drinking problem. Apparently when he would come home drunk, he would pass out on the porch, and she would shine a lantern in each window to see where he was and bring him in. One night in a drunken rage the man killed his young bride and he was arrested for murder and the house remained there and people said that when anyone would get near or make noise outside of the house the young bride would come with a light to the windows to see if anyone was on the porch of this little shack. When my grandfather was done< I asked him if he was just joking, and he said no. He said ask any of the older residents in the community and they will all tell you the same story. I did ask around and several of the older folks in the community said the story was true.

Fast forward 30 years. I inherited my grandparents house and live in the community. The now owner of the land the old man owned has a granddaughter that built a very large home down the gravel road. Her driveway is beside the oak tree, and I see her husband often and he has told me he sometimes sees a light at the end of the driveway at night by the oak tree. He said he even walked towards the road one night thinking it was someone with a flashlight that maybe needed help, but the light suddenly was gone and he just went back inside.

I wish I had an explanation for this, but I don't.

My outlook on spirituality and reality were completely altered by an experience I had while in a coma. Of course, I can't be sure, but, I strongly believe, I was disconnected from this reality, and glimpsed true reality while very near death. Sort of like how people describe "going towards the light", except I was already in the light, inside of a giant (a few miles across) sphere, in a self contained pod

I didn't see anything, but got a feeling that is hard to describe.
No fear, no worries, no hardships for my sins. I felt instantly forgivin.
Only felt love, laughter and that nothing in the past mattered.

I don't know if that was the end of that journey or the beginning, or just a consequence of a blood clot hitting my cpu, but I no longer fear death.

moved into my house 13 years ago. The previous owner's name was Tex. I still have the letter that was stapled to the wall saying to not revive him if found dead or dying. After living in the house 4 or 5 years, my son (who was about 7 at the time) started talking about Tex a lot. He gave specific details. My wife and I had never mentioned him to any of the kids. I asked my son how he knew so much about Tex. He said "you told me". Spirits are real.

Sounds like "Tex" needs to cough up some rent money or GTFO. Bet that would dampen his spirits....

It's absurd for an adult to believe in ghosts. Sorry. I know most of you believe this absurd shite.

I find it more absurd for an intelligent person to think they know what truth is in this world.

I absolutely believe demons are real. I don't believe in "good" ghosts. Anything unexplained in the house gets attributed to the "ghost" lol

There was a thread on here probably 7-10 years ago where people were talking about ghost and encounters with interdimensional beings. There was a guy or gal on here talking about some serious interdimensional shite going on in there house where they had direct contact with them. The story gave me nightmares because it sounded so believable.

Sounds like someone was hiding an illegitimate child.

Wasn’t it BigEdLSU that said he had physical demons sitting on his kitchen counter or something one night.

my grandpa died and was buried on the day before the Kentucky Derby

That Saturday morning before the derby I woke up and heard ‘number 7’ in my grandpa’s voice

So I told my parents to bet number 7, they laughed but bet it for me, and it won.

Your grandpa is awesome for that.

I believe when someone dies, they either go upstairs…or downstairs. That’s a belief that was fostered in the Baptist church growing up.

I doubt it's that black and white. I honestly get a kick out of seeing mortal humans tripping over themselves to assume what happens after death. Oh golden roads you say? That's so cute.
Honestly I think when we pass it's something we cannot even process. Near death experiences shed some light on it. Maybe just brain chemicals firing, maybe not.

Not sure. I have a few things I can't explain. I wrote about them here a while ago in the haunted thread

I have felt this before at the most random times. Brushed it off as just a sensation. But ya gotta wonder. I feel like I have some great guardian angels watching out for me though

Has the lsutigerinbama story been posted yet? Or the beejon spirit sword story?

I have the first one I can post, but didn't want to repost.

The older I get, I truly hope there's something after we die. Mainly because I want to see my wife and kids again. But, I don't subscribe to any religions. That all being said, I've never had an encounter with spirits or ghosts of any kind. I'd like to though! The stories I hear from people always intrigue me.

Can you share anything on the icu experiences?

How awful re the baby. But how blessed that mama was to be shown so she could be at peace even in the midst of losing her baby. Wow.

Yes to cardinals. My mom had a cardinal visit after her husband had passed. She told me about the meaning.
