A guy from work and I were talking about this last week. He grew up in that area and was telling me about the Vietnamese community. He was telling me that once your in, your in with literally the entire group but the same applies if you screw one over. He said the only black folks that frick with them are high on some really good shite because anyone in their rite mind wouldn't dare.

Great market too. Buy live ducks, chickens, pigs etc. all grown and farmed right there in the east.
Where and When is this Market?

During the Katrina aftermath they knew where almost everyone was. And went looking for the ones they didn't hear from.
After Katrina I did utility locates for a company that set FEMA trailers.
The first time I rolled up in Little Siagon, I was barely out my van before some Vietnamese dude pulled up in a F150, jumped out, and pointed a pistol at me. He thought I was a looter and wanted me out the neighborhood, ASAP. I asked him if he wanted the people whose house I was at to get their FEMA trailer. It took some time to explain that they wouldn't set the trailers if I hadn't located the underground utilities. I guess he saw my locator and realized I might be telling the truth. He parked across the street and watched me like a hawk the whole time.
We ended up setting a lot of trailers in that area, and once they got to recognize us or our vehicles we didn't have any issues.

Don't be misled, they do have crime. There are idiots of all colors robbing, burglarizing, and assaulting people in that area.
They never get any coverage of it unless someone dies.

Early Saturday mornings at Alcee Fortier Blvd.?
V ietnamese Farmers Market
I've been a couple of times with a friend. They bought a live chicken and duck and I bought some great vegetables. They saw it on Zimmern's show so that's why we went - plus we were in the area at that time of the morning. It was small the first time and lot larger the second but I'm guessing that just depends on what is available.

The Triads are KNOWN as the Chinese gang. They may have Vietnamese called triads in the same way there are White kids in Idaho right now calling themselves CRIPS.

Truth. Grew up with a girl that I have been friends with for 30+ years. They treat me like family. Neither of her parents have ever worked a job in the conventional sense, but they lived in a huge home and drove nothing but exotics. I'm in!

Half of the men who live there were probably gang members or fought the Viet Cong for several years. Doubt a thug who holds his pistol the wrong way would scare anyone from there.

Basically they stuck together, dont spend money on stupid shite, spend money in their community, save. They very seldomly marry outside thier race.
I won't say very seldomly, as it seems a little more common, but yeah they typically are encouraged to marry within their race...
that being said, i married a vietnamese girl from the westbank... awesome people, brought up pretty similarly to how i was down on the bayou

Coincidentally, this was on Frontline last night. In the eighties and nineties, Vietnamese expat death squads in the United States assassinated fellow Vietnamese refugees who they deemed pro communist or just didn't like. LINK
