Do hair dressers just expect to get a tip?

I have been tipping the lady who cuts my hair after each cut for months without a word of acknowledgement which bugs me tbh. I could have paid for several haircuts now with these tips.
WWOTD?

Do you go to the same person? Do you want a fricked up haircut the next time?

In my experience, yes.

Depends on where they work. If it's one of those places where they rent space they yea definitely.
I tip regardless because the chick that cuts mine will usually take me short notice and does a really good job.
Also, she was saying that the clippers they use cost well over $1000 for a set. I dont mind giving her $7 for a consistent cut and I get a free in-between before my next cut. I'm cheap, but im not that cheap.

If she's cute, she can get more than the tip.

you have to pay extra for that.

If you are happy with the service and tip because of that, there is no need for her to tell you thanks. Its a polite thing to do but the tip you are giving her is for her good service.
Rarely do waitresses say thanks due to the process.
I would not say hair dressers "expect" to be tipped but it is the correct thing to do if you are happy with the service.

according to most people on this site its mandatory that everyone gets a tip and the tip should be no less then 35% or at least $20 minimum or you are just a cheap bastard

Nah. They’re expecting all of it.

screw that, they're getting all 3 1/4"

Yeah, pretty much, but it's pretty shitty for her not to say thank you.

Depends how much the haircut is. If it’s a $10 haircut yeah I’ll tip but if it’s a $40 haircut nah I’m good. Always tip if someone other than the hair dresser washes my hair though.

What's your reasoning for this?

I tip my barber 5 bucks a pop....because A) he is a good dude B) I've been knowing the old dude for years C) he does a good job and D) he is a red blooded Republican
ETA Just to add...I ain't never been to a damn "hairdresser" in my life...what kind of a man goes to a "hairdresser"?

I really don't understand why we tip for a lot of the things we do. Tipping the hair dresser ranks up there as one of the more ridiculous. If he does a good job, keep coming back. If not, find someone else.
