They really don't do much for air circulation, especially in the kitchen. Also, I can't stand clutter, so they take up unnecessary space.

I took 2 down and replacing them with recessed and track lights. I keep a fan in the kitchen, which is much more effective anyway. Now the rooms look more spacious.

What space do they take up? You spend a lot of time on the ceiling?

They're required for sleeping.

I find them extremely useful.

They can easily give, to me at least, a "feels-like" temperature reduction of maybe 1-3 degrees, which is often all that is needed for comfort in a room that is 'running warm' when the rest of the house is fine.

Same deal outdoors... can turn a very warm area into a more comfortable area.

I'm guessing over 200 downvotes.

I use my fans year round.

I travel with a fan so I have 1 to sleep to.

Eta....275 downvotes currently I was waaaaay off.

I've never seen a ceiling fan in a kitchen

On fans in general, they keep air flowing and less stale

How do you keep the blunt smoke out of your face without a fan?

I have one in my kitchen. It’s an old house. Also a fan in the kitchen is a Godsend when chopping onions.

Ban this motherfricker. This is without a doubt the dumbest shite I’ve ever read on this board.
