They give more surface area to dust.

If you have high ceilings ...helps circulating the heat toward the floor

I've found the last common ancestor.

You should turn yours on 'high' and stick your head in it.

They really don't do much for air circulation
Ummm what? That is exactly what they do. Are you sure you know what one is? Did you turn it on?

Ceiling fans augment the circulation of air in rooms and supplement the A/C quite a bit in my house. Every room with a ceiling fan is much cooler than the ones without just for having the air circulating.
As for clutter-----how is that even possible since they are on the damn ceiling and not taking up any floor space. All my ceiling fans have light kits, so it's not like I also need lights plus the fans in a room.
I don't have a ceiling fan in the kitchen simply because I do cook a good bit of food on my stove by simmering it at a low boil and don't need the fan disrupting the flame. That has to be the dirtiest fan in your house with all the dirt and grease that can accumulate on the blades in a kitchen setting.

I keep a fan in the kitchen
But why

Tariq may not realize that there are two directions for air flow and he may think that the small switch on the side of the fan motor is for decoration.
Heck, both ends of the bell curve need inhabitants.

Do ceiling fans serve a purpose anymore?
Honest Q to the OP:
What technological hurdle did we pass, that made ceiling fans viable from the 1940s to 2000s, BUT no longer with a purpose?
Better insulation? Smarter thermostats? Serious question.

I took 2 down and replacing them with recessed and track lights. I keep a fan in the kitchen, which is much more effective anyway. Now the rooms look more spacious.
Weird flex but okay

Who are you, Lionel Ritchie?

I hear you man. I’m so much more worried about my room looking more spacious than cool and comfortable. Top thing I look for when buying a home.

This is a perfect example of trying to hard to be on.
Too bad you can't get a hard-on.

I have a ceiling fan in my kitchen. I cook a good bit and it helps to circulate air.

OP's ceiling fan control boxes. This helps explain the clutter.

I use my living room fan. It's good for when it's not hot enough for A/C but too warm for the heater.
