They all have panic attacks cause Boomers fricked this place all up. They can’t afford school, a house or get promoted cause Boomer won’t fricking retire.

Gen Z went through highschool and college seeing everyone get extra time and accommodations academically for disabilities of a variety of reasons.

They're playing the game, they just don't know any other way.

The further you get into gen z it goes from having accommodations made to fill on celebrating a disability and being successful. Being average without a disability is seen as having an advantage in all aspects of life

This is really good insight. A lot of the blame is probably with their parents though. My ex insisted on 504 status on dubious grounds for our Gen-Z son almost like it was a badge of honor. All though she was a wacko, I suspect she wasn't alone in the thought that you are disadvantaged if you don't claim a disability.

I may be wrong but I think every child that is labeled with a disability in public schools get a monthly check from social security

I have a Gen Z niece, all of her problems are because of other people, it's never her fault.

I can't stand to hear her complain about everything.

Could be that people, regardless of age, use internet forums and social media as a way to get attention. Being a victim is a way to get attention too. Or it could be that people have always had the same disabilities, but the internet has educated people to their existence, whether real or psychosomatic. Or it could be that the younger generation is just more comfortable talking about psychological disorders. Maybe all of the above.

I think one important factor has been that victimization has become social currency. It has become a means for receiving preferential treatment and an easier path for social mobility.

Pair that with a meteoric rise in narcissism and a need for validation through social media, and you get what you see today

I feel like it has kicked-started another pandemic of laziness via victimhood. Younger people have sensed weakness from their older managers, who have been trained by COVID

While most of your post is true one good culture change in the American workplace is actually being able to take sick days without bosses treating you like a worthless lazy piece of shite. Before Covid most workplaces made you jump through hoops and looked down on you if you took one sick day in the last year. Now you have a lot more flexibility. As long as you don’t overdo it. Which is understandable and right.

My wife is a professor, yes, they all do. It is amazing that every single kid has a "mental illness" when test time rolls around.

Yeah it’s fricking weird. I see people I went to HS with in 2009 posting all the time about what they suddenly are now diagnosed with. I don’t get it. I think it’s their way of justifying their failures in life.

Take my wife's office for example. She is extremely frustrated with her colleagues because she actually gives a shite about putting in a solid day's work, whereas her coworkers are basically in a nonstop competition as to whose life is the toughest and most miserable. The majority of them apparently have "life crises" on a weekly basis that require taking sick days and asking to come late/leave early.

Assuming she's a federal government employee?
