This guy thinks short wait times on a few rides at rope-drop means that there are never long waits.

At Disney right now. Today was definitely the most crowded I’ve seen the parks in quite some time.opened at Hollywood, swam at the pool middle of the day and then walked over to Epcot around 5:00. We go to Disney because we enjoy it and our three kids 6,4, and 1 love it. I’d much rather spend my time here while my kids are out of school than at a parade on the Southshore.

At this point I wish more people felt like the OT about Disney because then maybe the parks wouldn’t be slammed every single day. There was an unbelievable amount of Louisiana people at Disney this week. Obviously expected to see a lot but it blew away our expectations

You listed all those rides having 2 hour or longer wait times. Only 2 did. And even then only one did.

If you can’t handle Disney just say you can’t and go home.

Disney can charge whatever they want and people will gladly pay it.

I have never understood that

He’s not far from the truth. I was there two days ago. Actual numbers I would see on Genie +

Smugglers Run: 95 minutes
Rise of the Resistance: 150 minutes
Slinky Dog: 120 minutes
Tower of Terror: 135 minutes
Rockin Roller Coaster: 125 minutes
Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railway: 95 minutes
Toy Story Mania: 70 minutes

Every decent ride was at least over an hour to around a three hour wait all day.

If you use just one lightning pass at a time (assuming you can’t log in to buy extras in time which happened quite often) you’ll be lucky to ride 3 of them without standing in line all day.

I have no issue at all with people who fill Disney parks. Their choice, their money.

Now, I do wonder in my head why you would take kids younger than say 5 there, as they won't remember it I wouldn't think, but maybe if you have a 15-5 spread it makes sense in ages.

To me, the bigger surprise is the economics of it. Hundreds of dollars a day for a small family. I need some OT money.

What happened to just getting your kid a wiffle ball bat, machete, hutch football, and a bike ramp and tell his arse to get off the porch and get home when the street lights come on?

fricking Disney parents are the reason America is so damn soft.
Some people aren’t poor white trash?!

Yeah that I will never understand. If you are going just for yourself, then leave the kid with grandma. If you are going for the kid they won’t remember it. They really should explore bringing back these DisneyQuest locations and putting them strategically around the country.

The number 1 issue is the service sucks post Covid. Covid worker shortage means they had to hire lesser employees and probably train less. The new employees suck donkey balls

everyone keeps using the term "magical". We've only been once (and this was a week ago). While it took a day to figure shite out with the lines/app, we had a lot of fun. But, what am I missing about the "magical" part? Did we completely miss the decades of magic?

Are we talking about the music and characters parading around dancing and pointing and smiling at children?

You can pick 2 every 3 hours plus pay for the extras

I was there a month ago the only ride that was crazy trying to get into was Rise of Resistance.
About 80% of the rides we rode we used lightning lanes

It isn't that hard to figure out

4 is about the cutoff in my experience. We took both of our kids when they were 4 and they both still remember the trips. That age is perfect as well because they’re not yet in school and you can plan your trip for a slower week. Both times we went we didn’t wait in any line longer than 30 minutes. This was 10+ years ago though.

So grateful my Disney days are done. No desire to ever go back there.

FWIW, I know someone who deals with Disney on the supply side, and word from the mouse is annual pass holders are causing the extreme crowds, and Disney is no longer selling annual passes because of it.

I figured it was pent-up demand from folks staying home for two years, and I'm sure that plays a part in it, but I guess their internal metrics show the annual pass holders who are either "working" from home or not working at all are what is pushing the crowds over the edge.

Everyone I speak to who recently took a trip says it's the most crowded it has ever been.

Agreed. Here right now and the workers are complete assholes. I guess they decided to channel their inner Disney villain. Also the lightning pass sucks arse it has completely screwed everything up and no one can ride anything anymore because the lines are so outrageous. Need to go back to the old fast pass system because it was way more efficient.

ETA: I am seriously considering calling/writing Disney about the employees. I have never experienced a more disrespectful group of losers I’m tired of the damn attitude.

I would like to know what exactly changed with it because everyone keeps saying it’s the same as the old fast pass system but you pay for it now. All I know is with the old fast pass we were always able to book the next ride as soon as we checked in. This new one as soon as reserving is open it’s almost immediately full. You get one booked and by the time it allows another it’s 4-6 hours later.

For animal kingdom and Epcot it wasn’t that big of a deal because we could still do other rides with sub-hour waits. Hollywood and magic kingdom are just not feasible to get done in a day with the current state of the parks.
