I would like to know what exactly changed with it because everyone keeps saying it’s the same as the old fast pass system but you pay for it now. All I know is with the old fast pass we were always able to book the next ride as soon as we checked in. This new one as soon as reserving is open it’s almost immediately full. You get one booked and by the time it allows another it’s 4-6 hours later.

The old FP system was a Ferrari compared to the new one being a dodge colt. You could do 3 to start a month before going then do one at a time after those. You could also pick your times as opposed to the app just throwing a random time at you. You could have rides lined up at 8,9,10 and then be getting new ones as soon as you badged into your previous one.

They would also let your kid come on with your fast pass so in a family of four you could technically book 6 to start the day (3 on parents and 3 on kids) and just crush it early on.

This new one at a time every two hours(and having to log in at 7 am the day of to grab one) is essentially worthless on a busy day as by 11 or so all the rides you’d really want a fast pass for are gone for the remainder of the day. You legit have to just stand there with your head in your phone all day and just banging refresh hoping to get something worth a shite.

You’re paying for the service to hopefully get one, MAYBE two good rides on a busy day. It’s like they took a great system on a very good app, took a shite on it and then charged for taking the shite.

Not arguing it was better years past.

But if you don’t like it, quit being a bitch about it and don’t go.

He’s not far from the truth. I was there two days ago. Actual numbers I would see on Genie +

Smugglers Run: 95 minutes
Rise of the Resistance: 150 minutes
Slinky Dog: 120 minutes
Tower of Terror: 135 minutes
Rockin Roller Coaster: 125 minutes
Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railway: 95 minutes
Toy Story Mania: 70 minutes

Every decent ride was at least over an hour to around a three hour wait all day.

If you use just one lightning pass at a time (assuming you can’t log in to buy extras in time which happened quite often) you’ll be lucky to ride 3 of them without standing in line all day.

I am online now after doing Hollywood today. Got on at 7am this morning and got my lightning plus, or whatever it's called where you pay to ride that ride only, for Rise and used a lightening lane for Slinky Dog. By the time we were able to select again, all that was open was You Story Mania. When we got to the park at 8:40 or so, we went straight for the Runaway Railroad and did stand by. As soon as we were done with that, the Tower of Terror, RR coaster, and everything else was over an hour wait. Even the alien saucer things in Toy Story Land was over an hour a lot of the day.

This new system isn't friendly for people with kids. We either grab what the kids want to ride or grab the bigger ones they might not like to ride. We ended up not being able to do Smugglers Run, TT, and RR coaster today. Even with only trying to get it adults only.

Y’all went on a busy holiday week and expected it not to be busy. That’s a poor consumer choice.

However, I’ve seen everyone complain about the Genie+ thing. Definitely put that out there (social media, message boards, comments/letters to the Mouse) because that’s the only way it will change.

It’s all Anything to make a buck now. I’m sure they are trying to catch up from COVID time loss of revenue but they are going to continue to milk their customers and increase the prices until people stop paying. Unfortunately all these new policies have put revenue first at the expense of the quality of the experience families have.

Oh don't get me wrong. I fully expected it to be busy. Especially as soon as they dropped the mask mandate there. On top of it, they dropped the mask mandate for indoors as well. Throw in it being a holiday weekend and the 50th. This summer, I fully expect them to be pre Covid crowds there. I just think the new system itself is flawed. Genie + was a way to have a "premium" service without it being very premium. Universal kicks Disney's butt in the fast pass department (though it is much higher in price too).

Another thing I was surprised about is last Year Universal would bring stuff back to our resort for us to pick up later instead of carrying around. Disney doesn't do this anymore since Covid and the cast member said they may not start back using it again with staffing issues and such.

That pissed me off about my trip last year. When I go back later this year I won’t be staying at one of their resorts unless they bring it back. That Holiday Inn at Disney Springs is clutch. Might stay at the Hilton though. My buddy was a nut hair away from Spire status and was going to use it to raise me to Platinum status with IHG’s rewards.

That reminds me, I need to browse around and find some discount codes for my tickets.

I go in October for this very reason. It’s their Spring Break and it brings out all the fine arse South American women.

Went to Hollywood studios in Disney a few years back with the kids. Hot as hell. Not much to do. It was basically all shops with people crammed inside, acting like they were looking at merch, just to get out of the heat.
Went to Universal the next day and wish we had did two days there instead. Universal is far superior to Disney. Unless you have kids in elementary school.
I would like to go to Epcot just to do the pub crawl though.

Universal is great it’s just so small. If you time it right you can do both parks in a single day. Those mango bbq ribs at Thunder Fall Terrace are filled with crack

The problem in itself. Having to "handle" Disney is not a wise business strategy.

Which one is the one that used to be called MGM Disney Studios ? When i was a kid in 1989 we went to that one when it was brand new, like the same month they opened it.. i remember they were promoting a brand new movie no one had ever heard of called Honey i Shrunk the Kids.. anyway, it was awesome and a lot of fun.. i know they renamed it at some point but not sure what MGM Disney Studios is now called .

Don’t go. We didn’t go growing up and can confirm I am not a junkie turning tricks for heroin. These independent, critical thinking Patriots sure are sheep.

Whatever that means to you...I've just never had the desire to spend tons of money waiting in lines all day in crowds of people. If that makes me "brave" then so be it

Too many folks are buying the service. It's rendering the benefits of Genie + useless. The only response is to raise the price, but as Disney has found out, people are still willing to pay it no matter how much they increase costs.

I think Universal's version is $100 per day. That would weed out many Genie+ buyers because most are there with families. You also have to consider that you can do universal in a day. Hitting all of the Disney parks is a week-long affair.

I'm in Orlando now and spent a full day at all 4 parks. They were all busy and crowded, but Magic Kingdom was an absolute shite show. Their capacity should be at most 80% of the number who were there on Tuesday. You could barely move around.

The OP is right, the experience is being soured badly. We payed the extra money for Genie +, but you can only use it about 2-3 times a day I'd you try to use it for any decent rides. On top of that, the actual good rides are not included in that cost. For those, there is additional cost.

The other 3 parks were okay, but Magic Kingdom was a downright miserable experience with obscene wait times.
