That's not a dirty trick, it's taking proper advantage of women and their "safety" complexes.
But you also apparently sent her to a place that costs $200 for an alignment, so you hold some culpability.

It’s called preventative maintenance and service checks. Nothing lasts forever, either pay now for maintenance, or pay much more later for repair. It’s not rocket science…

Your ducts do needing cleaning every so often especially if they are in attic or crawl space. Ducts leak and suck in dust and particles which can settle in the bottom of your ducts

Telling people their car is “due” for an alignment at 15K miles is dishonest as it gets.
If you drive your car more than 15k miles without having the alignment checked, you don't give a shite about wearing out your tires prematurely.

Car dealers are scum of the Earth. How people haven't full on revolted against them to cut out the middle man, is beyond me.
My best guess is that dealers know to suck up to local and state politicians, buy ads from media, and this helps keep the machine going.

It’s not just dealers, quick lube stations do it as well. I do all my vehicle servicing, but got in a bind a few years back and my wife had to take her vehicle to a quick lube for an oil change.
My wife took her car to a quick lube years ago for an oil change. I told her to only get the oil changed. Nothing extra. When she picked up her car, they took it upon themselves to change the wiper blades and several other items. The total was about 3 times the total for the quoted oil change price.

Service departments absolutely do more business than sales departments at car dealerships.

I find myself telling them I want this serviced or this changed, and they assure me that I don't need it, or don't need it yet. I go by the owners manual. One of the services recommended in the manual was replacing the gas cap. I told them to do it and they said they had never done that service before. Usually the people I deal with just say "what would you like done today?"
The only thing I was hosed on was a fuel induction/throttle body cleaning service at 60,000 miles. After the service I thought about it and never experienced loss of power, the engine runs smoothly, and I only filled it up with required premium from Shell, which already has deep cleaning additives.

If the dealership offers engines for life make sure you stay current with that additional yearly service that there is a cost for. They dont normally mention it when its time. If you dont pay them and have them add the service additive it nulls that engines for life warranty.
Learned the hard way even after the manufacture helped on an engine replacement I was still out $4500.

Modern cars rarely needs a fuel injection cleaning. In the 80s they required all gas to have detergent in it. It pretty much keeps the injectors cleaned. You can run a $12 bottle of Techron through it if you are worried.
And $199 for an alignment is robbery.

I’m getting my son’s car aligned when it hits 7500 miles…but mostly because I lowered it, put spacers on, and added some camber bolts up front. I’m sure the dealership is going question the setup…but you offer 4 wheel alignment so do it.
