We've never asked friends/family (except parents) on their TDAP status because our plan was to limit exposure until the littles had their 2-month shots (which is where they get their TDAP).

Yes. My wife was 40 and had all vaccines recommended for pregnancy. Our kid is not retarded or autistic.

We are not vaccine freaks. I’m a Covid pure blood.

We asked grandparents and aunts/uncles who would be visiting early on to get TDAP, but we also weren’t like “you can’t see our baby if you don’t” dramatic about it. Just make people wash their hands and stay away if they’re sick.

Vaccines the mother gets while pregnant can help protect the baby until he/she can get them after birth, it's not just for you. As others have said, tdap is really important. Pertussis is very dangerous for an infant.

My OB recommended, and I took, tdap and flu vaccines during all four of my pregnancies. My husband only got a tdap before our first child because his was up to date over the next several years our others were born. Grandparents also updated their tdaps before the first was born.

I had my babies before the RSV vaccine was around. I would gladly have taken it if it was available to me.

If this is your first kid, you’re about to see how frail those things are when they come out

You won’t question your decision, I promise you.

If the child is breastfeeding, the get the immunity of/from the mother. So if both mom and dad have it, it’s not a huge deal about short term visitors.

I got them when I was pregnant. The RSV vaccine wasn't out yet, so I didn't have that one. My son had RSV 3 times before he was 6 months old. He started daycare at 3 months old and was constantly sick until he was about 5. He's 11 now and his immune system is legit.

Honestly you should limit the number of people period around new born babies period. If anyone has even the slightest symptoms, they should stay away. Basing visits on whether you have certain vaccines is missing the main points of limiting visits and of not going by babies if not feeling 100%
