No AC or seat belts. Couldn't talk higher than a whisper either or Mr. Kermit (not kidding) would send your arse straight to the assistant principals office.

Hell no... The driver knew where the dips in the streets were and would speed up... He would look in the mirror and laugh at the kids hitting mid air. One kid was sleeping and he got a little sore.. No one turned in the driver.

ETA.. Driver's name was Mr. Jack He had a hole in his throat and still smoked.. He wore a little sponge flap with a chain around his neck.

I walked to school, uphill both ways in 110 degree heat with no water, and was barefoot.

They barely had paint or seats, so no to the A/C. Hell, working windows were a plus.

The trick was to open the window in the seat in front of you. If you opened your window the person behind you would get the air.

Nope and neither did the classroom. The only A/C was when the wind would blow. I don’t remember anyone complaining either

No A/C on the Bus.

But, had four 6x9's across the back jamming to B-97 Walton and Johnson in the morning.

The buses had no A/C, just like all the schools I went to from kindergarten to graduating high school.

And if you sat anywhere behind the back axle you'd damn near hit your head on the roof going over the railroad tracks.
