Oh, yeah. I'm sure plenty of people knew that $118,000 figure. Hard to avoid at a place of business with accountants and whatnot.

The FBI should have been called to secure the crime scene in the first 20 minutes. The police didn't even search the basement.

quote:Yep. I agree. A sick mind that wanted to pin it on the Ramsey's just to watch the news for 30 years & blame them while they skate. All because the police never did their jobs and called somebody in because they were way over their heads.
Damn
I agree with all this 100%
Well said
AND OR the local PD looked the other way to cover for the Ramsey's-- in not calling the FBI; because the Ramsey family gave big donations in the past.
Even Andy Taylor & Barney in Mayberry would have completely done a basement sweep.

And didn’t even have the demand letter written ahead of time, but then wrote a practice letter on the victims own stationary, then wrote the “real” letter after the first. That had to take forever. How would the killer know where they even kept their stationary??? The letter is the most bizarre thing about the case.

I would think if there were multiple killings like JonBenets they would have been connected and we would have heard about them. There haven't been so I think that rules out some serial killer. I think it points more into the direction of someone that was close to her.

Yep, it's also what put most people in the camp believing the family was behind it.
And it's pretty difficult to get past that.

A man carries his dead daughter from a basement the local PD forgot to search.
The FBI never sleeps. There is always someone on duty somewhere in the case of the feds and the military.
Yes Boulder was inept, but come on...
There are occupations that don't get to use Christmas as an excuse for not working, you know this better then most.
Not buying the inept everybody was busy local PD excuse. I don't care who wrote this in a book.

I just read the transcript of the Steve Thomas/John and Patsy Ramsey debate on Larry King.
I guess the video isn't in circulation.
I'd like some context because based off reading it the Ramsey's don't come off very well.

I hate to boil it down to one thing, but this psycho pedo child murdering intruder just happens to have handwriting so close to Patsy's that she couldn't be excluded as the author? Come on y'all

Patsy was the only one they couldn't exclude too.

Only a woman is going to write a practice letter before writing the 3 page story. That and someone that knew they were not going to be interrupted writing it.
Again the head injury happened 45 minutes to 2 hours before she was strangled. No stranger is going to sit in a strange house, knowing he could get caught at any minute , decided to kill a fatally wounded child. But Burke hurting her and the parents not knowing immediately fits.

Still can't believe people want to believe the pedo intruder theory.
There literally is zero evidence an outsider was inside the home, nor left any tracks to and from in the snow.
Another damning thing against the family is that it has been stated by the police that neither Patsy nor John ever showed concern as to the time of day which the ransom note writer exclaimed he would call back with more instructions.

If they had just set their alarm it would have helped this case. I know there was broken window anyway and I don’t remember if they had motion detectors back then but the combination of no alarm set and already broken window really sucks for this case. Plenty people don’t set their alarms but with kids you just have to all the time.

You can tell it was them because their tracks are so sloppy and they were just throwing a whole bunch of red herrings out there that point to them doing it on the fly. Y’all are focusing on all the details that don’t matter instead of the ones that do. Not every piece of information around a case is important or significant. The more information you bring it, particularly irrelevant information, the more it opens a case up to going down pointless paths.
Ultimately the brother smashed her in the head, then the father staged it to look like she was choked, and the mom wrote the ransom note. You can debate the whys/hows, but the important information all points to that.

I am no expert on this case. I have only read Jon Benet: Inside the Ramsey Murder Investigation and Foreign Faction - Who Really Kidnapped JonBenet?. It is really incredible how botched the initial response was. Once you know how badly the Ramsey’s responded (you could make a case that this was to be expected) and the Boulder police (their inexperience was on display from the beginning) then you can see why we are where we are at now.

The most logical conclusion is that Burke killed her.
I wonder how he sleeps at night.

The broken window was in the basement and had a grate covering it with an undisturbed spiderweb plus John stated he broke that window months before.
