It’s not just a coincidence, it’s how God designed humans. The closer we get to Him (His love) the happier we find ourselves.. even in the midst of storms.

It’s been proven for thousands of years that God then specifically Jesus, can heal the unhealable.

All it takes is faith and willingness, God does the rest

In 2016 my wife of almost 20 years passed away in her sleep....... ~6 months later started attending mass again, reconciled with my God, and life began to stop spiraling down and improved.

Correct and it works for millions. I'm not structured enough for it to work for me.

Before I hit what I felt would be rock bottom I changed my situation and put the booze down. I did go to some AA meetings and they were good, I just found the steps cumbersome. Just deciding enough was enough did it for me.

The steps did nothing for me but that’s not to say I didn’t get anything from the program. The fellowship is the main thing that keeps me clean. Make connections, do tons of service work, help people etc. Keeps me busy and my mind occupied

I went for the stories. Peoples individual path and what I could get out of it.

I guess people who have been burned beyond recognition or have severed limbs don’t heal right up because they just don’t have enough faith.

Not for me though. I’m a heathen who cures his depression with being a workaholic.

However, religion- I have ALOT of questions

Religion saves no one. Having questions is a great honest start. Answers are there for you. Salvation is a free gift. Accept or reject. Simple.

Nailed it right there!
God created you for relationship - with him and with others. This is probably the biggest need for mankind. How did this happen?

Another question that has always bothered me. I struggle with believing in anything, however, I'm a good person, treat people with respect, faithful husband, great and active father to my daughter.

If I die, I'm just screwed and going to hell? But some dude in Camp J at Angola serving life for murdering 5 people can get to heaven because he found God? Seems messed up.

It was booze, women, and turning my back on God and Jesus that did me in at my low point in life. (The devil knew my weakness.). I’m no holy roller or fire-and-brimstone preacher, but I truly believe that returning to God pulled me out of a serious downward spiral.

Religion helps nobody. Jesus saves.
What about when your human life is over?

then it's over...

look, realistically, taking faith completely out of it for just a second, and just using logic, we both have a 50/50 shot of being right... if Christianity works for you, great... i'm not knocking it.. no need to proselytize me... i was born and raised in the Southern Baptist church by my grandfather pastor... i had the whole conversion, "born again" experience... it just doesn't work for me anymore, and that's ok... i'm not criticizing anyone else's religion and/or faith-based beliefs.... if that works for you, great.... keep doing that...

If they were truly confident in their decision, they'd see threads like this and not even comment, or just make a positive comment and move on.

They can't help themselves though, and it's always the same 3-4.

Of course, when you put stock in Madeline Murry O'Hara, we'll, that says it all.:lol;

I went back in 2024. And it was one of the best years I ever had. I quit going and it’s back to sucking. Haven’t talked to God in over a year
