Not an expert on this. But I can't see how they can build A without closing down the whole bridge.

I think they were doing it in sections and trying to keep the bridge at least partially open the whole time.
they can easily pour those bents in sections.

But will never be built

Sure it will, they will start just after they have completed I-49 all the way to NOLA.

More kickback studies just like the drainage issues from 2016 that still haven't fixed jack squat

you want to remove the bridge, fill in the lake with dirt, and put in a box culvert?

this is why bringing design ideas to the public is normally a completely worthless endeavor.

The people that don't see how absurd "soil and a box culvert" is are probably the same ones complaining about how bad Louisiana roads are.

Sure let's throw a mountain of fill on top of shitty swamp soil and pretend like that'll be "low maintenance".

But it makes as much sense as having to make two lefts to go straight on the new picue interchange, so it's probably got a good chance of happening.

Does it really matter what a bridge that crosses a cesspool looks like. Wouldn't be easer to just fill that scum hole of a lake in.

I see some Bitcoin millionaires in the 2nd road view rendering. Lambo headed eastbound and down, Ferrari to the wild west.

Is that really a problem now? There's a lake and pretty busy walking trails under the bridge already.

None of those are as bad as the dumbass looking red suspension bridge here in Tuscaloosa. Its taken like 4-5 years to build and cost a fortune. One of the beams twisted during installation and that was a big setback. It was the dream of some dipshit in ALDOT in Montgomery to build a suspension bridge and he got his wish right before he retired.

The traffic interuption and HUGE over budget makes it the perfect example of Alabama road projects.

What about the i-10 bridge in Lake Charles?

I kinda like not knowing if I am going to make it to Houston or plunge to my death. It's exciting.
