The reality is that these other cases got in motion due to the media and public scrutiny surrounding Madison's case.

Does he make valid points though? Someone pointed out how different this thread would be if it wasn’t a local story. I got in trouble pointing out how different it would be if it involved different guys with different backgrounds.

And I get it. They’re hypotheticals and I understand why we want to keep out stuff that’s not relevant. It distracts and derails the topic itself as well as causes emotional responses due to how close this is to home. The admins aren’t necessarily wrong. But at least Choup is saying the Uber driver (who is obviously someone local as well) isn’t getting the same treatment.

If there is one thing this board has taught me, it's that a lot of people really just want to inflict pain on other posters and people in the world in general. Many are just fools but others intentionally just want to try to wound other people with their words. So the challenge is to not take the bait, and not let the worst among us effect the best among us. Some of our most reliable trolls are completely morally and intellectually incapable of showing any restraint or wisdom. It's the human condition, and they deserve pity, not enmity.

Very few rape accusations result in charges.

The 12 year old reported it and sadly it was probably pushed to the side. Sexual assault isn’t taken seriously enough here. It’s why there’s a huge backlog of rape kits.

So is a taxi driver responsible for where you walk after they drop you off where you asked them to drop you off?
I took an Uber the other day in New Orleans, and was drunk. Would that driver be responsible for my death if i got hit by a car in the middle of canal street? I think most are trying to attach the rape to this incident, and they don't go together. They are separate events.

And i'm not saying it's ok that they dropped her off where they did, but i could understand if she's getting agitated and saying she wants out of the car no matter what and she'll take an uber home. Saying that 10-20 years ago is a lot different than saying that today. It doesn't matter where you are today, you log in to your uber app and they come pick you up exactly where you are standing. It's not like they left her off Gardere. It was a nice subdivision where she could very easily get an Uber.
Now the gentleman thing to do would be to take her home, or to a friends house, but that didn't seem to work out, so the next best thing would have been to make sure she got an uber ride before leaving her, but these 4 shitheads obviously weren't gentleman.
