I live not too far away from the Starring and Burbank intersection. No one is concerned about people trying to cross Burbank right there at 3 am. I can see an Uber driver at 3 am maybe thinking about people crossing Burbank at the Ben Hur or Lee intersections, but no one is crossing Burbank at Staring at 3 am.

I asked way back if where the memorial is placed is where she was hit. It’s across the street from the Pelican Lakes entrance so did she walk across 4 lanes and a median to get there?

The wbrz article from Jan 17 says this:
“According to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, the crash happened on Burbank Drive at Pelican Lakes Parkway around 3 a.m. Sunday. Deputies said the student, 19-year-old Madison Brooks of Covington, was standing in the middle of the road when she was hit.”
ETA: so according to this she was standing in the middle of the road

On the map someone posted earlier of her being struck on the opposite side of Burbank from Pelican Lakes and headed towards campus.
one of my theories-
Im curious if she was dropped inside Pelican Lakes, couldn't find where she was going, and without a phone, attempted to walk back to her sorority house.
Follow-on to that theory is that while she was walking back towards campus, tried to flag down the driver who struck her. Being in her intoxicated state, made a catastrophic mistake by standing in the road when she saw lights coming.

So this is in addition to the 12 year old? I thought I read that the 12 year old was 2020 and the third investigation was 2021 but could be wrong (or the info could have just been wrong).

I don't think anyone is trying to deflect blame. I don't think anyone on this board definitively knows that the Uber driver has zero fault yet it's repeated over and over again as fact. From what we know about this, it seems to me that the driver isn't at fault. I'll say it again for those in the back... I DON'T BLAME THIS ON THE DRIVER AT ALL. But anything is possible and I would not be surprised if the victim's family (or at least one member of the family) decides to sue the driver and or Uber eventually. Like everyone else here, I don't know.
Too many people on this board see things in black and white and don't realize that the truth may be in the grey area sometimes. An attorney can chime in about comparative fault bc I really don't know if/how that applies.

Not sure about this new one but the 12 year old was apparently reported to Walker PD in 2021, according to the victim.
ETA: The point being that the crime was reported, but the victim can’t bring charges.
