I remember he projected Georges wrong and everyone in WWL kept telling him how great he was.
I remember when every meteorologist in the country had Katrina hitting South Carolina and Nash pinpointed exactly where it hit and took crap from every one of those famous meteorologist for saying it was headed to Bay St. Louis. Bob Breck went ballistic on the air

Baton Rouge airport sustained winds:
Record: 86mph on 8/1/1959
Gustav: 61mph
Andrew: 48mph
Gustav gusted to 91 mph. This could top that.

Before people start wishcasting this thing all the way from Houston to the Panhandle, can we get one of the OG guys to briefly explain steering? Levi spoke last night about a pressure system keeping it from going too far west. Has that changed much today?

He did so early. It was a bit controversial.

Well that’s because Bob Breck was blind and no one knew it at the time

Knots to mph -- knots x 1.2??

So the Euro has it hitting SWLA and GFS now has Vermillion Bay.
HWRF and HMON still stuck on much further east landfalls. What gives?

I don't want this to hit anywhere, but I REALLY don't want this to affect the northshore.

Directly from the NHC yesterday. The basic setup hasn't changed too much:
quote:
A northwestward heading around the southwestern portion of a deep-layer ridge should begin tonight or Tuesday, and that general motion with some increase in forward speed is expected to continue through 60-72 hours. After that time, a broad mid- to upper-level trough is forecast to develop over the south-central United States, which should weaken the western portion of the ridge and cause Delta to turn northward toward the northern Gulf Coast. After day 4, Delta should begin to accelerate north-northeastward or northeastward ahead of the aforementioned trough

Ignore all the model noise and just follow NHC

Is there a good reason we keep using knots for ANY PURPOSE, or is it just purely a tradition/custom sort of deal?

Did you catch Bob Breck's blog post calling out Levi from Tropical Tidbits for blowing this storm out of proportion? I bet Bob feels stupid now.

I was in the sixth grade and lived in Baton Rouge when Andrew came through. I don't remember the winds too much, but we didn't have power for three days afterwards, and it took about three days to get the yard cleaned up (we did have a big yard though). When Gustav came through the winds seemed worse than I remember Andrew's being, but not as much shite in the yard. We lost power again for about three or four days for that one, too. If the current path holds...well, I'm just glad I'm not in Baton Rouge anymore...

Of all people to call out, calling out a guy who is on the cutting edge of coding and modeling is not a great decision.

Bob Breck always comes off as a bitter little bitch.
