Not everybody has the time to set their schedule to check immediately after an update comes out, then they have to sift through pages and pages of bullshite to get the information they need. All I'm saying is that there should be a dedicated thread for actual information.
Next update is at 10:00. Let's say you can't get back here until noon. If you look above this post it will show you the date and time of this post. So you go to the last post and start paging back until you find the first post before 10AM. Might take you 15 seconds. Then start reading the most current updates. You're welcome.

If Lake Charles does take another direct hit, curious how many residents will pack it in and move to TX. Or rebuild. But I guess it depends on job availability too and how soon they are able to come back.
They will rebuild. Plus... It’s the only place in Louisiana with actual economic growth.

Thanks for the interpretation, that makes sense.

So downvote away but on this map it’s still calling for 50-70 mph winds in BR. I thought the general consensus had been changed to gusts of 40?
You can see the different impacts at a parish level by going to weather.us and selecting the model, date, and parameter. It is also showing 50-77 mph winds in WBR and EBR; sustained at 36-40.

I wonder what construction supplies are like after Laura then Sally?
The supply chain was just starting to get rolling on shingles and fencing.

Start another thread if you want to get into a pissing match. Or, maybe the mods can start another dedicated information thread like they did during Laura. Either way I am extremely grateful for the knowledgeable posters and the information here. It is awesome.
For what it’s worth, we’ve tried this many times and it ultimately sucks each time. I’m clearly prone to the bickering, but the better weather posters stay above the fray. We’re also typically reading and answering any relevant and specific questions that are asked.
The bickering is almost a rite of passage for any good hurricane thread.

Yea, it’s not the plants are going anywhere. Many were about to come back online and this storm probably won’t cause too much damage to the facilities themselves.

Hurricane threads would suck without the peanut gallery. If all you want is info, go to NHC or tropical tidbits. This is a message board. We shite post

Indeed. Builds character. PS very interested in the 10am update. Does it stay put or start slowly sliding back east?
Stay tuned, we'll see ya at 10! TD weather channel

Gotta get them big power still. Nisco is having trouble getting water for steam still. It’ll be a little while still.

DeRidder took a pretty good beating during Laura, granted not as bad as LC, but enough people are worried sick right now!

Yes, but my suggestion was assuming people were interested in the discussions going on about the new update.

As a long term lurker I appreciate the comic relief in-between informative posts. Thanks to the experts for keeping us informed! Y’all have been clutch during these storms

What type of winds is the Lake Charles area expected to get?
