We are so fricked in Lake Charles. If it wasn’t for the plants there would be nothing to go back to.

Are we at the point where we should be taking it seriously or should we wait until after it pounds Mexico?

It being the projected track

Take it seriously now. We can't say if it'll be west or east of you exactly but looks pretty good to be somewhere between like Grand Isle and the TX/LA line (I'm being conservative with that range).

It should weaken near landfall but it ought to be from a strong system and probably won't be until last 12 hours to even start if it gets near you.

Just keep an eye on it and prep like it's coming.

Thinking tomorrow morning may make the decision for me.

I thought the same thing about New Orleans in '05 and it's arguably better now than before the storm. Besides the current Mayor making Nagin look like a founding Father.

man I feel for the folks in Louisiana especially the southwest part. Hoping this thing goes way west either way someone is getting fricked. This looks really bad.

I wonder how many will pack up leave if another devastating storm hits again. The resin plants that make PVC are still shut down and that has tremendous implications for rest of South.

There should be a bold statement added to the OP of every Tropical System thread saying:

** IF YOU ARE ENTERING THIS THREAD FOR THE 1ST TIME AND HAVE ??s - GO TO THE LATEST POST...THEN BACK ANOTHER 2 OR 3 PAGES AND START READING. 90% CHANCE YOUR ANSWER WILL BE IN THERE. **

Reed Timmer is in Cancun to intercept Delta tonight so he may have some live video and pictures. Think he said he has already deployed some sensors for readings.

I’ll be heading back to Houston tomorrow around 4. Tried to tell both of my parents that they would be welcome at my condo even though it’s only two bedrooms, but I think the idea of evacuating was such a foreign concept since Baton Rouge rarely gets a hurricane.

We all had a miserable time during Gustav of course but that’s about the only one that really had a serious impact on them in more than three decades.
