Definitely ex-military.
What an ignorant statement.
Edited to add that the downvotes show just how little many in this thread know about aviation. (36 yr. commercial airline pilot)

How fast is a B-52 compared to a commercial airliner?

I love how calm and cool the pilot is
A long time ago there was an ATC tape of a pilot with a plane in trouble using the million dollar voice, up to a point.
Pilot: [Speaking as though he’s ordering a Big Mac] Uh, approach, this is King-aaaaaaair 250, we got a little old problem. We are fuel critical, the cabin has filled with smoke, and the left engine is on fire.
ATC: [Slightly rattled]: Kingair 250, say again?
Pilot: [Repeats status cooler than ever and adds]And that danged other engine ain’t sounding too good.
ATC: Kingair 250, are you declaring an emergency?
Pilot: [Completely losing his shite]. YER FRICKIN A I’M DECLARING EMERGENCY, YOU DUMBASS.

I think most B-52's are stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City

Pilot said B-52, not B-2. I think most B-52's are stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City. They may have been flying near Shreveport. They used to do air shows when I was a kid where you could tour them. They were massive. It blows my mind how something that heavy can stayed floating in the air. It must be an absolute gas guzzler. Like 0.03 miles per gallon.
At cruise it burns about 3,300 gallons per hour, at a speed of about 600 mph. That puts it at about 5.5 gallons per mile = 0.18 miles per gallon. It has a 47,000 gallon fuel tank.
Put another way, it burns almost a gallon of jet fuel per second.
ETA - fixed the fuel tank size

I think you mean pounds brother. Not gallons

My guess would be 50mph-75mph faster?
And I’m pretty sure there some B-52’s stationed at Minot.

They burn 3300 gallons per hour loaded down or 7k lbs per minute

Unless they are doing a military mission, there is no reason for the B2 to turn off their transponder, so to stop the TCAS systems they each have to stop providing collision avoidance!

They do touch n goes with the B52 at SHV

Not me. Idgaf if I’m flying over Area 51; I’m almost Platinum Pro status on American which means you better turn on your transponders and if not then my pilot better not be a cuck

These are the stories I just love to see the day before flying across the country.

It sounds like the B-52 was behind the airline, going faster, and over took them?
The military aircraft must have fired its jets and hit ludicrous speed and gone plaid.

Is there a worse duty station combo of possible assignments in the military?

Dude, that would be 420,000 pounds per hour. Our average burn rate at high level cruise is about 20,000 pounds per hour. At low level and high speed like they were, you can notch that up to about 25,000 pounds per hour.
Once we get the new engines (assuming Boeing stops fricking it up), we will be about 30% more fuel efficient.
