Every offshore accident in the history of the industry has been the result of a chain of missed opportunities by numerous people.

I've seen the Pason data from the entire event. There were plenty of opportunities to stop. Of course there were also plenty of opportunities to correct the issue before they ever even started displacing.

As a commission salesman in the oilfield, which was shut down post horizon, I was declined lost revenue. Waiters and real estate agents and clothing store employees got big payouts yet those of us directly affected were denied. It changed everything in the gulf for years and I probably lost $ 100,000.00 in 9 years.

So you only lost $11,000 a year?

That doesnt seem like very much in the grand scheme of things

As part of the settlement class. You could have pursued legal action against BP separately. How much was in it for you? I'm not sure.

I apologize for bumping this back to first page but I was asked a direct question.

I worked on Auger during this same time period were you with H&P

Me an Karl worked together on Auger as roustabouts together for Transocean when Transocean still had the drilling labor contract for Shell. This was before H&P took over the labor contract from Transocean. This was also before Transocean merged with Sedco Forex. But a Shell Company Man talked me into staying on Auger and hiring on with H&P so yes I worked with H&P on Auger (Rig 426) until December of 2001 when I was promoted to Crane Operator and transferred to Shell Ram Powell. I ended up dragging up H&P in the summer of 04 from Ram Powell. I’m sure redstick 13 we know a bunch of the same people. If you name your Toolpusher and Rig Manager from 426 Auger it would help.

Being employed in the O&G industry he probably was excluded from the class by the moratorium, another way the settlement fricked people over. If you were affected by the moratorium, even though it was caused by the oil spill, you were either excluded or limited significantly.

I worked with the drillers brother, it was very hard on them.

Lucky I was overseas when this happened, didn't slow us down.

I know his widow. Saw her last football season in front of the Union on a GameDay.
That's all I got.

Oh and the Rise Against song,
Help is on the Way is mostly about Katrina but has a verse about the Deepwater tragedy.
