Would’ve saved two lives in this instance if enforcement had been on the water near that bar.

Well if the driver had been drinking they are in trouble unless their Dad is the DA... never mind that's St Tammany Parish

WL&F
They're a PITA and overstaffed

Understaffed
And if most followed the rules they wouldn’t be as relevant. Wanna be an agent that spends days fishing a body out of the water because no PFD was worn, or someone chopped up by a prop? They see terrible things on the water

We bought a camp on the tickfaw (terry harbor) this past spring. My family and I are out there every weekend and there’s always multiple sheriff/wlf boats patrolling the water.

No different then tiki tubing and local law enforcement was getting calls everyday without sufficient manpower to respond to all the calls

I heard through my sauces that party barge was running dark with no lights. If you are making that mistake why would you be in middle of the canal. I've ran with no lights before but always along side at half speed where nothing else runs

They're always fiddle-farting around doing checks, and there's multiple agents on the boats.

From a coworker that was at the scene the sea fox driver left in handcuffs.

If this is the case, as much as I’d like to blame the sea fox, it isn’t his fault.
Unless he’s drunk, then it doesn’t matter

Sounds like someone that’s never had a mmf threesome.
Mikelbr taught me the order of the letters matter. If you had a mmf it means you went at another dude with a woman. If you had a mfm you went after a women with another dude.

Yep there was a wreck last night in Sulphur, where a guy ran into the median on I10 then tried to walk across interstate and got hit by a vehicle. The guy that hit him was impaired and got arrested. If he was sober he more than likely wouldn’t have got arrested. Wrong place wrong time.

It appears you have missed the point

Driving drunk down an interstate isn’t “wrong place, wrong time”.

Everyone needs to pass a min standards boating test not just those born after 84
I have my boater ed certification and have been stopped on the water about a half dozen times by LDWF checking for equipment and/or fishing license and creel checks. Never been asked to show proof of boater safety, even though I’m required to have it.

Who said the driver was drunk. He could have had one beer over the legal limit. Not drunk at all but some goofball decides to walk across I10 at night.

I think his point was everyone SHOULD have to pass a test to show minimum competency to drive a boat, just like a car.
I have no idea what the number actually is, I assume no one does, but especially by 5-8pm the percentage of rec boaters driving while over the legal limit is likely outrageously high.
I am the odd guy who will not take the boat out if I have been drinking, period. It isn't as much handling the boat as it is I feel a responsibility to people on my boat if shite goes sideways. I want to be sober to make the appropriate communications early on by phone or radio and don't want to second guess it because I have been drinking. I want to be able to get the drunks into life jackets and if we go in the water I want to be able to keep a head count and keep everyone together. I also want to be able to administer first aid and if more than that is needed I want to be able to follow my wife's instructions since she may be drinking and not comfortable being hands-on with someone. I know some will see that as silly and an overabundance of caution but I'll accept that.

How can you do this at midnight and actually see where you are going?
