Then how was a $5000 packet of money half buried in a Columbia River sand bar identified by the serial numbers in 1980 Columbo?

I made it way too far into adulthood still thinking DB Cooper was a wholly fictitious character comparable to Chester Copperpot

People. People care. Because it’s the only plane hijacking that has never been solved. I lived in Oregon at the time it happened so I am intrigued by it. You asked.

I was only a few months old when it came out... I'm the generation that's missing out on the American Dream because of Starbucks and avocado toast purchases.

ETA: but I am a woman, so I was probably already complaining about shite

Well just stop with the lavish toast and coffee and the house will come.

You’re partially right. His name was Dan Cooper. DB was a newspaper mistake.

Richard McCoy Jr was likely DB Cooper.

He was killed by the FBI in 1974, after breaking out of prison for you guessed it, hijacking a United Airliner and getting a $500,000 ransom and jumping out of the plane.

His widow passed in 2024, their children turned in a old parachute to the FBI, that they believed was used in the DB Cooper hijacking. They stated they waited, because they didn't want her to be charged as an accessory.

This is accurate, but DNA tests were done on the tie that DB left on the plane. Richards DNA was not present on that tie..

Nobody in the history of anybody has ever washed a tie.

The DNA tests were done in the late 2000's I think.

The plane hijacking craze of the 1970's was a deep state conspiracy to scare people from flying due to global fuel shortages

A FOIA request in 2004 showed the FBI never ruled him out. Was a very interesting person, he studied law enforcement at BYU, until the Vietnam War. Earned a Purple Heart over there.

Made a fake gun out of dental paste in the prison's dental office. Then used the "gun" to carjack a garbage truck and drive it through the prison main gate. The two guys he was with were killed two days later in bank robbery. McCoy was out for 3 months before the FBI found him.
