The key here is the statement " there is a lot of pressure being a public speaker". Taken at face value, his statement seems like a terrible thing to say, but if you remember, Chapelle was attacked on stage by a guy with a fake gun that had a knife in it. By him saying he feels better after Charlie Kirk was murdered, he may have meant that compared to Charlie, his own incident does not seem near as bad now.
Also, does he mean he feels better since Charlie Kirk died or because Charlie Kirk died? Important distinction. I am not defending him or crucifying him, but these are things to consider.

think it keeps the show fresh too. Doesnt leak the whole set so people get know the jokes before they are coming

I can definitely see the benefit but seems like a logistical and security nightmare. I could see plenty of moms refusing to give up their phone just in case little Johnny ar home gets the sniffles.

Well like it or not (or his take on this subject), he's taken on the trannies too.

Yeah, but he softens the tranny stuff quite a bit with a bunch of context. He just lost me with this.

By speaking about unpopular topics that upset both sides of the political aisle.

The only time he criticizes the left is over the tranny crap and when he thinks the left is being unfair to black people.

The tranny stuff is low-hanging fruit for jokes but literally the only things he says about the left is how liberal white rich people try to keep blacks out of affluent areas, how they were OK with Tyrone Biggums because it was a black crack addict but not OK with him making fun of other identity politics, etc

He isn't calling out both sides. He is calling white people racists.

He also went on TV and called out Republicans for trying to "weaponize" his tranny jokes and called them all "opportunists"

Of course he feels better. Do you think if a white guy would have said the same thing about MLK their career would still exist?

We don't even know what he said yet. Could have been funny. Could have been mean. Could have been both.

There is some good juxtaposition with him getting grief each way every couple years. Seems he coined "alphabet people" that people love to use.

One of the few parts of the show that wasn’t funny. Also didn’t really fit and felt forced.

Were you there? Is there more context here, or does the 47-second clip cover it?

I saw him in Houston a couple weeks ago and he did the same joke. Not really much additional context. It mostly stood alone then he moved on. I imagine he’s been telling it the entire tour but they were pretty hardcore on the no phones or smart watches so I guess it took a while to get out.

Yeah he hates white people. He said a couple of specials ago that ‘things are getting better. White male life expectancy is going down.’ He’s a piece of shite, just another angry, race-obsessed black guy. Stop giving him money.

The double standard is interesting to me

They attacked Tony Hinchcliffe this year for making a George Floyd at a roast just earlier this year

Sure. But that was stupid and an overreaction too. Just like this is.

But there are lots of things Chappelle and I would disagree with personally and politically. This is just another one of those for me. But I’m not gonna get all pissy about it just because I don’t agree with it or think it’s in poor taste (and I still haven’t seen the whole setup/joke/story either. Like someone said, often times Dave sets up a punchline for 10-15 minutes at a time).

bringing up his name
yeah, because the only thing the racist, marxist folk hero dave chappelle did was simply "bring up" some unknown guy's name and now people are riled up. it's not like one of your fellow intolerant comrades put a round through his neck and murdered him or something.

So we can put to bed fightin tigers defense that there has to be more to the joke, and the clip is out of context.

Thanks

Dave is a Muslim and a racist. Sure, his show was decent and he has some classic stand-up bits, but on a human level he's a pretty shitty person apparently.

Correct. It was a bizarre piece. Other than that the show was quite funny and should make a good special.

Imagine a white comedian saying this after Dave Chappelle getting assassinated.
They would be cancelled and vilified 24/7 by the national media.

But it's ok to say this about a white/heterosexual/conservative man getting assassinated.
The hypocrisy is disgusting
