Dave Chappelle says he “feels better” since Charlie Kirk was murdered

The longer clip added
Doesn't appear to be any context I can find about it being a set up for a joke. Just seems like hatred

quote:
The exact progression of that specific joke is as follows:
• The Setup: He begins by acknowledging the tension of his own job, stating, "I feel f*ed up saying this. It's scary being a public speaker."
• The Punchline: He then drops the controversial remark: "And I mean look, ever since that guy Charlie Kirk got murdered … and I shouldn't say this publicly but, I feel better."
• The Follow-Up: As the crowd reacts with a mix of laughter and applause, he doubles down on the dark humor by describing it as a random, unprompted mood boost: "I know I shouldn't say that but, it's just a feeling. I didn't ask to feel this way. I just be driving around like, 'why am I in such a good mood? Oh!'"

Well like it or not (or his take on this subject), he's taken on the trannies too.

Was there a punchline that followed or is this Dave just trying to be a philosopher?

I still have no idea who Charlie Kirk is but I love how bringing up his name still riles people up.

So what was was said after that?
I don't know how he can justify saying that?
Why didn't the whole audience get up and walk out?

In a clip circulating on X, Chappelle can be heard telling the crowd: “Ever since that guy Charlie Kirk got murdered, and I shouldn’t say this publicly but... I feel better.” The audience laughed.
The full context of the bit isn’t clear from the 47-second clip, and Chappelle has not commented publicly.
IDK

Does he even tell jokes anymore? Feels like he tries to hard to be edgy without caring whether or not it's clever or funny anymore.

I can't get past the fact that people celebrate a young father, who was by all accounts a good man, being killed for giving speeches.
He was publicly executed. Orphaned his young children and widowed his young wife. For having debates on college campuses. And people celebrate it.

Good to see we’re back to canceling comedians again

This. A lot of times in his comedy he says shite that is meant to rub you the wrong way, and then follows it up with a punchline of some sort. I assume that’s what this was. But even if it isn’t and he is celebrating CK’s death (which I doubt), I don’t and won’t like or agree with everything Dave says anyway. So it’s really whatever to me, and it’s not worth getting all bent out of shape over.
Either way, I’d like to get the full context of what he said.

This clip could probably explains why he makes everyone lock up their phones at this shows.
Someone putting half a clip out there without context.

So apparently the "joke" is just that thinking of Charlie being murdered makes him randomly happy

You know he’s dead.
I’m wondering what kind of human gets off on “loving” anything about the murder of another person.

Here's the longer clip for you. The joke seems to be that Charlie being murdered is why he gets happy randomly

That’s fine. It’s a joke (or even a political statement) that would miss me and I would think is dumb/not funny. And I’d move on.
