Depends on location. New NPs in Laf in a clinic is about $95. ER NPs pull about $75/hr but with shite schedules like 3p-3a. They are 1099 as well.

I’m not sure what her financial situation is but if she’s got student loans she should look into working a couple of years in a rural health system. They have to have some kind of rural health accreditation but it used to be that if you go to work for one you could get like 85% of your student loans paid off by the USDA (I think). A good friend of mine did this years ago and the rural hospital she worked at still paid her pretty damn well on top of the loan thing. I don’t know if the program is still around but it’s something to look into. Good luck to her

wife makes $68/hr at urgent care in Houston, 3 years of experience. 1099 or W2 no benefits.
She needs to travel. My wife is a travel NP and makes $135/hr. She clears in 1 shift what I make in a week turning wrenches in a plant. She's currently working on a contract in Montana that will pay $160/hr.

Not enough. Nurses do all of the real work, doctors just take the credit.

Friend of mine makes great, never asked how much. Works OLOL fours days a week for benefits then two at private practice. Lets just say its hard to get appointment with this person at private practice.

Curious of starting and career progression?
Why wouldn’t you have already done this research?
Seems like something most parents do well before the summer prior to their kids enrollment?

Correct. OP talk to your daughter. But I know she probably doesn’t have much real world numbers and the OT probably does.
Your daughter will make a comfortable living

NP’s are awesome. Mine told me my swollen lymph nodes and fatigue were from an infection I picked up while traveling. Gave me ten days of antibiotics. Found out two months later it was stage 4 cancer.
Proceed with caution when seeing an NP.

I know a few FNPs and a couple of them got burned out in a few short years working for clinics.

I wouldn’t say that this is entirely true. When I visit a doctor, I usually end up actually seeing a nurse practitioner. However, she invariably has to consult the doctor at some point in the visit…

I was being sarcastic but multiple people took the bait I guess

Daughter is in nursing. Claims one college out of Bama (or Georgia) offers NP courses online. Says you have to physically go to register, etc..but then everything is online classes.
I'm pressing hard for her to go the CRNA route.
Way more money and a very easy workload

yep, I was sure that was a ticking time bomb that would almost start a thread of its own

Did you go to an Urgent Care and expect them to catch cancer?

I've mostly worked on two remote islands as an NP since 2018.
Since 2022, I've made anywhere between $80-110/hr with all expenses paid along with many other perks.

The truth is that the NP field is becoming super saturated. NP mills are pumping out NPs left and right

My daughter got her doctorate in physical therapy. Right out of school she had the option of going to a 3rd world country for 2 years. Then her student loans would have been wiped out.
Working for a non profit and making XX amount of current payments on time the rest of the loans will be eliminated.
