Redken Mint Shampoo. Get it at a barber supply store.
Been using it for years. It works great.
Rinse AND repeat is a MUST regardless of the shampoo you use.

MG217 Psoriasis shampoo is 3% coal tar as opposed to 1% max for Neutrogena (read the fine print) and others. Works wonders.

Use Apple Cider Vinegar. Trust me - It works.

This Paul Mitchell tea tree oil shampoo will dry your skin out like nothing else and actually cause dandruff.

Facts. I haven't used hair products in 5 years. My father had scalp acne and dandruff, I got him off the products and it all cleared up after a few months.

I use that shite. Don’t work

Shampoo every other day. You need scalp oils to come back.
Try an oil based shampoo with no harsh chems (even head and shoulders and TGel have harsh chems). Tea Tree, Marula, Avocado oils. Check those out

Agree with a bunch of posters thus far. Dandruff shampoo will actually exacerbate the problem in a lot of cases. I used dandruff shampoo for years and never found the results I wanted. Talked to a dermatologist and his advice was, shampoo only 3-4 times a week and when you do, make sure it's a sulfate-free shampoo. He suggested an Argan Oil shampoo (less than $10 a bottle).
Worked like a charm.
Also, be aware that as it gets colder and dryer, you scalp is going to experience some dryness, so if you haven't had dandruff much in the past, this could be a temporary, environmental thing. So don't do anything harsh.

Tailgate party foods and binge drinking for the LSU game every weekend is hell on your skin.

That's true about shampoos. Try to wash your scalp every 4 days. Also always look for sulfate free ones.
Or there is an alternative for real "no poo" goers with homemade hair masks. You may mix coconut, argan, almond and baobab oils, as well as mentioned above tee tree and avocado ones. Personally, I like the variant, mentioned here here, with avocado and egg yolks, but as for dandruff, I would suggest trying the almond oil.

I thank God I'm Italian with nice oily dark skin. I get to scoff at honky problems like sunburn & dandruff.

Use a shampoo with tea tree oil

The tree tea oil shampoo cut it back 90% or better. I use it three times a week and it hasn't come back like it used to be. Best thing I've bought in a long time. I wish someone had told me this 20 years ago.
