make sure it has ketoconazole 1-2%.
Someone else said make sure you shampoo, sit, finish shower, then rinse. This is best practice.

I use a shampoo called Kenra that works really well. You lather up and leave it in for about a minute. I use it a few times a week and it completely stops the flakes.

T gel to get rid of it, and then buy better shampoo.

My water is hard and full of chlorine, so it dries out my skin. Under my beard is the worst, and barely controllable. Only thing that works on that is beard shampoo every three days, balm after that, and oil in between.

For my head hair, I use T gel for two consecutive days once a month, and then Regenepure shampoo in between. Another benefit of that shampoo is that it made my hair grow back and get thicker.

Keep using Head & Shoulders.
It doesn’t fix it overnight. You have to use it daily and masssage into scalp. It’ll stop it.

I tried this stuff for years. It never worked for me. Tree Tea Oil worked the same day. Never seen anything like it. Dropped ten drops into any ordinary shampoo and it absolutely went away.

Seems counterintuitive but by improving my diet I all but eliminated my dandruff.

Added fruits and vegetables and cut way back on carbs and refined sugar and within a month or so it just stopped.

If you don’t want to go that route I later switched to aveda shampoo and I feel like it doesn’t dry my scalp as much as the other shampoos used to.

Several people are suggesting Head and Shoulders, but if it works for you and you're not an OT baller, the generic Equate stuff will work just as well.

*compare to Head and Shoulders

Seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff) isn’t curable only manageable. OTC Nizoral 1% will help. 2% works better but you need an Rx. Loprox shampoo, a number of topical steroids can help. If no imp, may need a biopsy to confirm diagnosis. Psoriasis can look like dandruff sometimes.

I use to have long hair so I was more susceptible to dandruff. Then after joining the Army I started shaving my head. Still have it now and then but it's much more manageable. One time the hair stylist asked what I was using, so I said Head and Shoulders. She suggested using a brand of Tea Tree Shampoo. I have used it ever since. That was like 10 years ago. It gives a tingle and smells pretty good. Get it a try if you haven't already. Ok someone beat me to it. I second Tea Tree.

Drink more water. Also, use a cap full of standard, normal mouthwash, when you shower and let it soak a few minutes. It'll knock it out in a day, no kidding. Google it

Keep yourself properly hydrated throughout the day. It will work wonders. Also,

Don't wash hair every day. That dries it out. Women don't do that if they have dry hair and women know how to manage hair.

When you do wash your hair, leave the head and shoulders in there for 10 minutes after massaging it into the scalp.

FEEL THE TINGLE.

If that doesn't work, get prescription shampoo.
