Hit Braindead Brewing for some food and beers. My buddy is one of the owners. It's been getting top reviews from city publications.

Brain Dead is legit. The Cajun smoked turkey sandwich is fricking awesome.

Deep Ellum has a bunch of solid bars and restaurants. My favorites in the area are Uncle Uber's for sandwiches, AllGood Cafe for country style, Serious for pizza (though others prefer Cane Rosso), Pecan Lodge for BBQ, and Deep Sushi for Japanese. The new Latin Caribian fusion place Cafe Salsera isn't half bad though the menu is a bit limited. Also' Lusher's Red Hots makes killer hot dogs. I much prefer them over the ones across the street at The Angry Dog. Tree's used to be the best music venue in the area but thats not longer the case now that Bomb Factory has opened.

Barcadia in NOLA was usually pretty douchey and had bartenders with giant fake racks. Is that pretty much par for the course in Dallas as well?

I went a few months ago and it's not bad. It's a mix between Lower Greenville and Uptown crowd.

You're a tard. That's exactly like someone asking what to do for supper in BR and sending them to Prejeans in Lafayette.

Bartenders yes, they tend to wear lowcut shirts to trick your drunk arse into bigger tips.

Crowd wise it depends as it can be fairly different depending what night it is. If you are there on a night a kickball team has taken over it'll probably suck b/c they goes nuts on the giant Jenga tables. Its not too bad though b/c its kind of between Uptown and Lower Greenville so you get a good mix most of the time.

I just like that place b/c I can play Galaga while I drink. I've actually spent more time in Beauty Bar across the street but that place is very hit or miss depending on the night as well. If they have a DJ on Friday or the weekend its a crapshoot. However, they do this thing midweek where your girl can get her nails done and get a martini or other drinks for cheap. Since the place is normally dead those days you tend to get pretty decent pours from the bartenders. It's not quite what you'd get at the old Loon in Uptown but certainly more than you might get at most other places.

Grapevine has a nightlife? And yes, it's far from Dallas.

Hey everyone, let's go to Grapevine tonight! Said no one ever.

Dude its 30 minutes from downtown minimum and that's if there is no traffic. It's already a chore to go to Addison let alone all the way to Grapevine.

Check out the state Thomas area like Parliament then make your way over to Mckinney. You'll find plenty of poon there. Fwiw I am a mid 20's male living in uptown.

When is that last time you went to uptown? Sfuzzi has been GONE.

We went there in Feb for a bday dinner. I can't believe that new location already closed, it didn't even last barely a year, if even that. Terrible management, apparently.

I'm an OT poor and really regret moving to uptown. It's so overpriced and not worth the money.

High Fives on Henderson has been a cool hangout since opening recently. Capital Pub is right down the street and is another laid back spot with opportunity to hit on the ladies.

Lower or Lowest Gville is definitely more low key. If the weather is decent, they'll have a bunch of people on the HG Sply rooftop bar all day.

I'd recommend taking UberX anywhere so you don't have to worry about parking or valet.

Anywhere on McKinney Avenue Uptown will be crawling. The new hot spot for the bottle service/cocaine & silicone crowd is the Eberhard on Henderson. It is the real deal if you are into that scene. Lower Greenville has come back really strong in the last few years. The deck at HG Supply is a good time. Truck Yard across the street from HG is the kind of place you can wear a Motorhead shirt & get complimented. If you are over 30 or 40 then you need to go the Glass Cactus in Grapevine. The greatest Cougar watching display I have ever witnessed.

Is the "Slip Inn" still open?

Went there a few times after some late nights and too many shots. Loved the name.

Been closed for a while. I used to work there in the early 2000s before it turned Urban.

The actual Slip Inn side is going through remodeling and will open under a new name soon. The convenience store next door is now High Fives.

That's a great little corner FWIW. Beauty Bar, Louie, Barcadia all a stone's throw and Eberhard less than 2 blocks away.
