Think they're just taking what the local source in Dallas is saying
He seems to be unsure of number but his tone makes it sound like those injured aren't in a good way. Not that surprising considering the footage a lot of us saw at the outset.

from the sound of the guy interviewed on FOX ("it's going to be a horrific night in Dallas" - said three times), it sounds to me like one officer may have died. He also said "several gravely injured officers...gravely ill at this moment".
On a different note, I can't imagine a 14 year old being that good of a shot to pic off several officers from afar
