Of all the things I’d risk my life for, a seagull would not be one of them.

I wouldn't give up my life for one seagull, but I would for a flock of them

What a dumbass to sacrifice a future with that pretty piece for a seagull.

Yeah, drowning at 31 while trying to save what is essentially a flying beach rat is not a risk I'd take.

Now his wife's a widow, his young kids fatherless and his parents doing what no parent ever wants to do--------having to bury their kid.

It’s something you’d never expect would get you killed. I could see myself doing it thinking it’s going to be no big deal…depending on how exactly it went, I don’t think my first thought would be “Wow I’m risking my life rn.” Must’ve been one hell of a current.

Undertow can get almost anyone, regardless of the activity they're participating in while in the water.

With that and sharks, I now go waist deep to either pee or stand behind the kids as a backstop while they play in the surf - and then come back to shore. That's about it

Last year I was in South Carolina and pulled over to help a turtle walking across the hwy. Some POS came through going about 50mph swerving off the road about 3ft while looking down at his phone. I literally missed death by a couple inches while my kids and wife was watching dad save a reptile. My arse puckered chewing a hole in my drawz.

Some fools can't see the ocean because of the seagulls.

Depending on the size of his life insurance, I'm sure his family will appreciate his sacrifice.

Yep, this is probably something he's done a number of times and thought no big deal, I'll just go untangle the bird and get back to fishing
quote:

William “Stone” Romberg was fishing into Phillips Inlet in Panama City Beach, Florida, when his cast accidentally caught the bird Sunday afternoon, according to his employer and a GoFundMe set up for his family.
Romberg tried to swim back to shore, but the current carried him further out, and he ultimately drowned, fundraiser creator Heidi Fortner wrote.

I feel confident that if the dude thought he’d drown saving a seagull, that he’d let the MFer drown.
