Just stopped to pick up 20 lbs to cure my craving:
Crawfish $6.95 lb
Shrimp (12) $15.99
Guess I'll just order a pizza

honestly i will not pay $7 a pound for crawfish.
its not even the price its the damn principle, 3 LBs of crawfish could buy a fricking great steak
its absurd and i refuse to support those prices. but as many people as i see buying them i dont blame them at all
i figured they would be small right now because of the weather we've had

Is it pond crawfish? I'm sure it is.. That's overpriced as frick...
The crawfish I get comes out of the spillway. And the best time to eat them is between early March and late June.
Speaking of pizza, the next time you do get some crawfish.. Go get you a french bread.. Peel some tails and make you some crawfish bread.. You butter the french bread, put the tails on it then top it with cheese.. Pop it in the oven.. And you got yourself some good eatin.

shite's jacked up high right now because the market isn't saturated with the bugs. I've spoken to some fishermen who have only just started in the last few weeks. That price will start dropping when they are all catching good in the few weeks.
People will blame the fishermen for the prices, but they aren't getting shite right now.

I blame Houston. Those mouth breathers over there are willing to pay anything thus driving up the price.

We are selling almost all of our crawfish to Texas buyers. They will pay anything for them. It sucks for Louisiana consumers, but great for farmers and middle men

The water is too low
Too much cold weather
Gas prices too high
Not enough rain
The Super Blue Moon
These are all factors with high crawfish prices.

This is why the prices are always high. If we kept all the crawfish caught here and made it illegal to sell across state-lines, crawfish would never be more than $2 a lb

True, but why would we do that?

Put out traps and catch your own. That’s what we did growing up.
