Excuses? My only point was she’s unelectable. Any average window licker would have won that election opposite that abomination.

Only if you assume that both groups started from the same point and had the same hurdles, which they don't. The average white baby and the average black baby have very different paths to follow long before affirmative action ever plays a role once their names are in the same pile of educations. On average, the path laid out for the white baby will be the easier one to follow.

That's a cultural problem that white people can't fix. Also, at this point, it's not the fault of white people either. Unfortunately, no one has the balls to address the problem for fear of being ostracized.

It's a made up phrase to make people that subscribe to a shitty culture feel better about themselves and their failures.

What did white privilege do for me or my immediate family? You or anyone else screaming about white privilege is no different than some stupid Rebel flag waving SOB as far as I’m concerned, you know nothing about me or what I’ve been through. Likewise I know nothing about you or what you or your family has been through, the difference is that I don’t pretend to have the answers,

I don’t know why you folks give this jackass the courtesy of a serious response. He’s a pompous little bitch on every forum he posts on.

The only proper response is to tell him to frick off.

I’d guess your parents and grand parents had incredibly different experiences than some of your black peers.

I’d also guess on a random Friday night that you were probably a bit less likely to be pulled over than the black dude of similar circumstance.

Just some examples that don’t mean you had an easy life but that you and your immediate family might have caught an extra break or two over your lives due to race. No need to feel bad or apologize. No need to feel like anyone’s saying you were born on third base...

a guy like Isbell is just saying that we should probably be willing to chime in when we see that racism around us. For those pretending they never see it... I’m not sure what to tell you but I’ve heard it pretty open and outright even in corporate settings.

Obviously it's not yours or my fault as white people that a black person today is living in the projects or in a gang. But let's not act like the black community as a whole got to their current state solely on their own doing, that would just be denial of history.

To expect the black community to be on par with the white community as a whole when they only gained equal rights across the whole country 50 years ago is ridiculous.

Time will tell. But outside of the west coast and some areas of the northeast, white men do not buy into the white guilt bullshite.

Usually I don’t pay it any attention but after a few beers this crap gets me worked up. I will never apologize because I’m white and I damn sure will not apologize for something my ancestors did. I’m my own man and to hell with anyone that thinks I should.

Plenty of immigrants do it. Cubans are titans of industry in some areas and have a lower poverty rate than black people in the US. Asians earn more than whites. It's cultural.

Again, the only response to any claim of “white privileged” is “frick off.”

The album and song have been out over a year. Its selling great. The album has been nominated for Album of the Year by the AMA's and CMA's. It also won a Grammy for Best Americana Album of the Year.

I'd say his career is just fine

Also, the message of the song isn't about white guilt. Neither the song, Isbell, or anybody in this thread is asking anybody to feel guilty for or apologize for being white, so y'all snowflakes are really just in this thread sky-screaming for nothing

It sure sounds like it.

I am far from a snowflake and I am not screaming at the sky. I couldn't care any less about Isbell his song which I never heard until this was posted. I was just commenting on the lyrics of the song. But you go on feeling guilty I will continue to be proud of being white.

From the time I got my license to 21 yrs old I was pulled over a shite ton. Even had my arse whipped by cops while in cuffs for a stupid bar fight. Yes I’m white and just the other day got a ticket from a black cop. Zero fricks given...

Black people weren't immigrants though, so that's not the same.

Immigrants are allowed to enter this country and immediately start building their future, often times with plenty of assistance from the government or other members of their community who are already established here.

Black people were essentially released into this country with zero property, the whole community all starting from scratch at once (meaning nobody already on their feet to help pull others up with them.) Then for the first 100 years after that the community as a whole was beaten into poverty and ignorance before they were truly allowed the same opportunities to better themselves.

The situations are night and day.

So maybe we should have an honest discussion about immigrant privilege?

Who is this artist? I love country music but have never heard of him. The picture on page 1 shows a hipster looking guy who probably wears skinny jeans to Starbucks. If this is where country music is heading, then the genre has a major problem.

It's always funny when recording artists start making idiotic political statements. Alienating half or more of your fanbase - pure brilliance. Just ask the Dixie Chicks.
