Honestly, I would rather him be consistent to whatever views he has. I know the post wasn’t directed towards me, but you can almost always tell when an artist has no emotional connection to the song. Like I’ve already stated, good music is good music, it doesn’t matter what the politics are. I love 60s and 70s rock and their politically skewed songs and their politics are almost on the complete opposite side of the political spectrum than mine. Good music will last regardless.

No I'm not a victim. But too many people today erroneously think they are. If you have a shite life your parents made shitty decisions or you did. Anyone that isn't a total loser can make a decent living in this country.

Only if you assume that both groups started from the same point and had the same hurdles, which they don't. The average white baby and the average black baby have very different paths to follow long before affirmative action ever plays a role once their names are in the same pile of educations. On average, the path laid out for the white baby will be the easier one to follow.

I do agree that affirmative action is a terrible policy though. Candidates should be judged on how qualified they are, and employees should be judged on the quality of their work. Affirmative action sends a message that you don't have to give 100% because you don't have to be quite as good as your counterpart. I think it would be more beneficial to make sure that anybody with the potential and will has access to the education and training they need to be qualified and compete for a job based solely on merit and qualification alone.

I'd say that's far more applicable to 1950 than 2018 which is why I feel like "white privilege" is a crock of shite. There are plenty of broke, poor white people in this country too. Way more than blacks actually.

I do think that ghetto culture perpetuates the cycle of poverty among poor black people, particularly in the South and inner cities. Too many kids being raised in single parent homes. A black kid that has 2 decent parents that raise them decently has the same advantages as other races.

That's just dumb. Segregation only ended 50 years ago. Even for a black family from the North, policies such as red lining that are still recent in the grand scheme of things made it near impossible for black families to get loans to buy and own property. And as you know, building wealth without owning property is very difficult to do. Most white families have had many more generations to build wealth in this country.

Yes, anybody can technically pull themselves up and make it in this country, but poverty is well documented to be a very hard cycle to break generation to generation. There's a lot more opportunities for a kid born poor in the ghetto to slip up and lose his way than a kid born to a middle class family.

My personal political views are negatively correlated with the music I like. Give me Isabell, Sturgill Simpson, Willie, Steve Earle, over guys like Toby Keith. I can separate music appreciation and political views pretty well.

Well no shite, do you realize how many more white people there are in this country than black people?

LINK

White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent

60.7

quote:

Black or African American alone, percent

13.4%

Your entire point also ignores the majority of the history of this country and the historical reasons why such a large percentage of the black population are poor and uneducated.

Maybe not inherently but 75% of black kids are born into single parent homes which is the primary driver of poverty and far higher crime and imprisonment rates. It's certainly tied to race/culture. It's about 28% in white families and even lower in Asians.
