shite, man. Haggard is in his own class IMO and Isbell aint even close - he'd probably tell you the same.

It’s the highest any of his albums have charted on release (with those singles being the bulk of the pre release content)
It won him a Grammy
And is going to become his highest selling album any day now.
He’s playing bigger venues at higher ticket cost
It may have alienated some but he’s taken a step forward in popularity regardless
Ignorant people ITT are talking like this album just came out. The album has been out a year.
This song was known about before the album released and all the same hand-wringing was done about him losing his fanbase, etc....
Did not seem to hurt too damn much..the album only debuted at Number 1 on the Country and Rock charts.
I don't agree with his politics myself so when this song comes up I just skip it. Hell if I didn't listen to any artist that had differing political views than my own there wouldn't be much music to listen to, or movies / TV shows to watch or anything else that falls into the realm of entertainment.

Probably, because he has such immense respect for Haggard. As far as current artists go though, there's not many that can touch Isbell. Dude really knows how to bring the feels with his words

Okay so you can’t name one issue at all just a bunch of anecdotal bullshite.
Of course.
Of course.

Its not like you're providing any evidence to the contrary.
But fine, here you go:
Trump vs. Senate Republicans: A Timeline
The Note: Trump vs. Republicans, his advisers and the DOJ
Boehner: 'There is no Republican Party,' only a 'Trump Party'
How the GOP morphed from the party of Reagan to the party of Trump
'This is the new Republican Party’
The final GOP holdouts to Donald Trump whimper into oblivion.
Should I keep going?

So he should pander to you instead of be true to his own viewpoints?
No, not at all. Your gentlemanly rebuke is well justified. If those are his true beliefs I ought to be willing to listen.
I admit that I'm inclined to sinful cynicism in these matters and it oftentimes clouds my judgment.
I wonder sometimes if an artist's adopting a trendy, edgy issue and using their gifts to exploit and advance it and a newly found virtue isn't based more in the profit motive than in a desire to soften the hearts of cynics like me.
I'll revisit the song and my response and opinion.
