For things like murder, obviously one would want a lawyer.

I don't know why but this cracked me up.

No, most legal cases can’t be “solved” without a lawyer, at least not well. A small minority of cases could be handled pro se without issue, but the problem is that you won’t know the difference, and even a lawyer wouldn’t know until they were retained and reviewed the file.

In a perfect world, maybe.

If those who break the law unintentionally and not repetitively, could face a jury/panel that would not be so intent on meting out justice to the letter of the law...maybe.

But we don't live in a perfect world and breathalyzers have no pity.

you mean resolved. Attorneys don't "solve" anything. You're thinking pf a detective. And you're always free to represent yourself, if that's what you want.

Lawyers are for people who don't want to accept the consequences of their actions.

Some. Yes. It's called probate for example when a will is involved.

We see a ton of invalid wills (many prepared by notaries) that are submitted pro se for probate. We are hired to set aside or amend 10-15 probates per year that were filed pro se and were incorrect. We set aside or amend even more affidavits of small succession. Some are due to incompetence, others are due to bad intent (e.g., "I forgot that I had two brothers and a sister").

Not wise. You do not want to face a DUI without counsel. Also your insurance is going to EFF you for a long time, so I would try to get out of that any way possible.

If you dont fight it and have that on your record, I think we have the executive sales manager of some insurance company around here that would love your business.

Politicians are almost always a lawyer so they pass, sign and enforce laws that benefit them. They have set up a legal and tax system that is dependent on attorneys. Nothing will ever change unless we citizens start voting them out.

Got a DWI when I was young and stupid. I wanted to take responsibility so just went to court at the judges mercy. Pretty much got the same deal as others I know that have gotten one. May have done a day or two more community service, but didn’t see a need in paying a lawyer to argue that down.

If you're obviously guilty you typically pay a lawyer for the relationships they have hoping for a lighter sentence or reduced charge.

shite, if you're not guilty you probably paying for the same. The justice system is as shady as any other industry and you want people who know people.
