IMO you are an a-hole for skipping to the next line over. Once you are in line, that's your line. You can even honk to alert someone to move forward (and it is also on the person behind them to be paying attention and honk as well), but straight up cutting the line was an a-hole move.

And I even understand why you did it, but that doesn't mean it isn't wrong.

I'm quite certain that isn't what they said.

I told the 2 people at the pumps closet to me that I was unsure if what I did was right or not. They both seamed to think I was wrong. One said it seamed entitled. You seek affirmation too much.

I have to assume its because you know you were in the wrong. But you desperately want others to affirm your decision was correct.

Costco gas is supposed to be Top Tier. But my car gets consistently better gas milage using Chevron, Exxon, or Shell. Four to five miles per gallon better with pretty much the same mix of highway and stop and city driving.

That's not how this works

Given the way base gas is distributed, what you suggest is impossible and would not survive scientific scrutiny.

I don't wait in line for gas. If it's that busy, get it another time/day. If you plan and manage things better, you don’t have to worry about lines.

This is like AI stories on Reddit. Did you get out of your car and say, excuse me sir, what did you think about what I just did over there?

Fake and gay.

This. Time in this case is worth more than a few bucks.

4-5 gallon???

Come on. I may get 1mpg more using 93 over 87 but that's about it.
4-5 is a huge difference.
What do you drive? I'm happy with my 15.5 mpg.

Treat the gas station like a urinal. Watch your business and don't talk to anyone.

But can I make a general comment about the length of the hose or "having gas" that anyone within earshot finds hilarious?

I gotta admit I share your fetish for quick gassing at Costco, and am frequently annoyed by the patron’s failure to follow “rules”, but have never cut in line or honked. Yesterday some ahole was on the far left but not in either line, then cut in front of me when my line moved first. I was mad, but got my gas. I’m 59.

You were wrong and you are the entitled one.

This whole story is a sign of anxiety/OCD. I suffer with it bad. I'm obsessive over efficiency and obsess over everyone paying attention and not doing stupid shite. Busy gas stations trigger me, but I'm also non-confrontational. When triggered I'll usually just bitch to myself about all of what I perceive as the nonsense that occurs around me and just stay in line. I know I have a short fuse and get overly pissed in confrontational situations so I avoid them. The more I keep calm and stop worrying about efficiency and just go with the flow, the happier I am.

You definitely need to practice patience at places that are heavily trafficked. Cutting a line because someone isn't paying attention for under a minute is wrong despite my similar sentiments. People like you who say F-it and go around and cut and do selfish shite triggers me worse than the inefficiencies. Now the 40-60 second delay she caused herself and anyone behind her has turned into a longer delay because of your lack of patience. Can they now all choose to play musical gas lines and cause chaos like you? It's a sign of self-importance like your time is more valuable than everyone else's, and that you think you never make mistakes or cause delays.
