Cost of Tuition increases

I started LSU in 1992, and back then tuition was $1200 a semester. I just looked online and saw that tuition is now $9200. An inflation calculator says that the $1200 is now roughly $2200. I doubt that the quality of education has increased that much to warrant such an increase in tuition.
What are they selling for the cost increase?

My son just graduated from business school and it amazes me how little he knows about basic business.

Have you been to campus recently? You think all those new buildings and renovations paid for themselves?
The new dorms look like 5 star hotels. Vastly different than when I live in Kirby Smith

And much of the money goes to a bloated administrations, consultants and the like rather than to the classroom. It is out of control.

Just in the last decade state funding has been cut in half. Someone has to account for that...

At least in LA, the state decreased funding, so the schools increased tuition to make up for it

The cost of the dorms should be recouped from the residents

Univ. South Carolina's tuition literally tripled since my oldest sister and younger brother went there. They are only 8 years apart.

$9200 a what? Semester, year?
It's roughly $6000 after tuition and fees per semester now.
