ost of Tuition increases by whoa
Just in the last decade state funding has been cut in half. Someone has to account for that...

I'm going with a $7k per semester increase per student, with an estimated student body of 30k. That is an extra $210 million per semester, plus whatever the athletic department donates. How much was cut from the budget in the 10 years?

Tuition has increased $4,700 per semester per student. Still a lot but it's the correct numbers.

It's roughly $6000 after tuition and fees per semester now.

You are correct. Sorry about that. I just looked at the Google search result. It was sfor the MBA program. Driving from Florida, and the service is spotty.

The mark up is still substantial.

I doubt that the quality of education has increased that much to warrant such an increase in tuition

It hasn't.

The most recent form are private funded with a 40 year contract. Can’t remember if it was spruce or cedar I was reading about. But the company that built owns/operates for 49 years and take the $4k+ a semester on the 200+ rooms (x2 people)

Look at out of state cost at LSU
when my first son went lsu offered scholarships for alumni kids and the out of state tuition was reasonable
By the time my second one finished they had removed any alumni assistance and upped the out of state fee a LOT

It is unfortunate because they have slowed down alumni from sending kids there because there are more cost effect schools elsewhere
And the alumni kids often would stay in the area thus bringing in more college graduates to help the state economics
And we paid full price .....no tops assistance

The university leaders and state leaders are really short sighted on this topic
But that is their norm

I lived there in 92. It was a dump, but fun.

LSU just built a 500 million dollar lazy river and spent 250 million to remodel the college of diversity studies

Private high school tuition in BR is $9K+ in BR and parents still pay it. So LSU still relatively cheap.

Its amazing what Alabama was throwing at my kid for this semester. Luckily she despises gumps but the crap with the new subjective admissions at LSU had her thinking.

She felt more wanted by gumpland than her own state university. The leadership has other concerns than keeping the best in our state or alumni even.

Good point. I went to Holy Cross in NO, and I think tuition now is about 4x what it was when I went. But today's Holy Cross student has A/C in the main building, we weren't so privileged back in my day....LOL.

At least in LA, the state decreased funding, so the schools increased tuition to make up for it

That's because every town needs a four-year university.

Louisiana has more public universities than Florida.

Adley in the 90's ran on consolidating 4 year universities in the State. He used Florida as an example.

Worth it to not send your kid to public school.
