Malls are awful. Thank god Amazon is putting them out of business. The remaining malls are congregation places for human trash now

Used to go to Hopper's with my dad. He worked at the one on Airline when he was a teenager. The owner would come out and talk to us, and gave us free ice cream.

Most of my time at Cortana was spent hanging by myself at Walden reading fantasy books. In the final few years of Cortana, that empty store (still with bookshelves) hosted Junior Achievement Finance Park. When I'd take my students on that field trip, I would just sit, lost in memories.

bring back malls

Malls all need to go away.
Hammond had the right idea 15 years ago when they went from an enclosed mall to all outside facing stores..

In the early 90s when I got my first job as a teen, I’d hit the mall on Sundays and buy team apparel from places like Champs and Going to the Game. I scored an Orlando Magic Shaq jersey there with some of the first money I’d ever earned.

I bought my first Metallica shirt at Sam Goody there, too. Hanging in bookstores was a good way to pass the time.

ECW Wrestling did a signing there once. We met Tommy Dreamer and Bubba Ray Dudley. When stores were chock full of rasslin’ shirts in the late 90s was wild, too.

Man, I miss this mall.

I'm from rural Missouri and am thankful that since it was over 1.5 hours to the closest mall, we never went when I was growing up.

It was quite a drive from the N Tangi area to get to Cortana. But, I was there 2-3 times a month during high school.

Watched Major League and Predator there. After one late movie, my bud and I discovered the mall gates were closed. Of course, we had parked on the opposite side of the mall. Talk about a long walk.

I miss Hammond Square as well.

Waited tables at Los Amigos in the 80’s. Super fun times.

Local news anchor at the time, John Mahaffey, would come in with a woman I could only assume to be his mistress. He stiffed me more than once.

Putting in a summer at Mama Brava so I could buy Jnco’s and a Limp Bizkit CD. The cooks taught me how to say bad words in Spanish.

Edit: does anyone else remember that storm trooper mask in Spencer’s that smelt like the depths of hell? It was there many Halloween seasons.

Who remembers Duff's smorgasborg eatery?

I worked at Wet Seal and across the hall at Contempo. I sold chicks clothes. Highly effective tactics fyi

Saw Fergie sing a few songs in the middle of the mall before she blew up back in the mid 90’s.

Saw several LSU basketball players in champs buying shoes back during Dale Brown years.

Joined the Navy thru that Navy recruiting office in 99. When I got out of the Navy Cortana was already pretty much dead. It happened fast.

Dead mall Youtuber Sal (who I believe is from NOLA) has an episode on Cortana:
